David Llewellyn Jones letter:
Think about a world without the U.N.Published Friday, December 29, 2006
The letter on Dec. 19 from Park Rapids, Minn., about the United Nations speaks for itself.
If the United Nations were done away with, history tells us it would have to be replaced with something exactly like it. Should we raze the U.N. and let the same people who destroyed FEMA build us a new one? I think not.
Does the mere fact we are the host country for the U.N. give us the right to censor what is being said there? Is censorship what made America great? Isn’t our country strong enough to be able to withstand a little criticism from the weakest countries? What is wrong with the global community having a forum for averting war?
If that incompetent buffoon in the White House had worked with the U.N. more, we would not be shouldering this mess in Iraq by ourselves and there would be a lot fewer graves filled with our beloved servicemen and women.
