It's not about Saddam - it's about us.
And what kind of people are we? What kind of people would permit their leaders to do what our leaders have done? In our name! In your name and in my name! What kind of people would permit a Congress as obedient as a puppy licking your face?

Yes, Saddam may have done all the things of which he is accused. It was not our job to invade the country and lock him up and hold him until the "puppets" in charge needed to pretend they were having a trial. It's not about justice. Don't fool yourself.

This is about a crime that went wrong. I could think of 4 or 5 people that should be standing on the gallows with Saddam Hussein. Unfortunately, they have used the naivete of the American people and the power of the US military to escape their just desserts.

Now, the final chapter will have us sitting by our TVs watching the dictator swing and watching our brave troops try to defend the Iraqi people. As if they never had access to guns or carbombs until we went into Baghdad? If they wanted "freedom" so badly, they had the means to get it on their own. Shame on America!

2. Precisely.
This is one of the major reasons I killed my tv. This will get more coverage than the Superbowl.

I am ashamed of us as a people and I am nauseated at the lynch mob behavior. It is obscene.

10. You're absolutely correct Kentuck
The day of Saddam's execution will mark a dark day in American history, where we were made-as a people-coarser and more like those we have historically condemned. It sickens me.

12. the invasion and occupation were crimes of IMMENSE proportions . . .
and the execution of Saddam will be a crime no less despicable . . .

will ANYONE ever be brought to justice for the war crimes and the crimes against humanity pepetrated by BushCo? . . .

will the Democratic Congress have the common sense -- and the balls -- to say "ENOUGH!!!" and put an end to this unimaginably expensive (both in dollars and in lives) atrocity? . . .

given the corporate profits involved, I sincerely doubt it . . . and that in itself will be yet another crime . . .

13. We are the kind of people who get the government we deserve: to wit,
although the Congress had an approval rating of only 15%, most of the most corrupt, venal, and un-American-acting Congressional-critters, including Senators who were standing for re-election, were returned to office by the electorate.

14. The great heist
There is no other way to get away with it but to just do it right in front of everyone.

Funny the comparison here is that Saddam(it could be argued) didn't break the law because he WAS the law. What he said at any minute was the law. Well now how ever W and Co. want to handle Iraq is the law. There really isn't any higher legal authority at least one that can enforce anything. The last part of this comparison is that both we and the Iraqis had constitutions but under certain people's rule that wasn't worth the paper it was printed on.

So we went in and stole a country and now we are going to kill the guy that we put in power in the first place.

It's good work if you can find it.
