3. Ford made a few statements bemoaning the rise of the Right...
I remember seeing him on Larry King when he lamented the lack of civility in politics as a whole and gently urged the Republican Party to embrace their moderates. I took his Op-Ed piece in favor of Affirmative Action as another hit against Bush and his cronies.

of course, some on here will say "but he met with Bush lat summer at his home". That's just something we used to call "manners". Back in 1969, Richard Nixon travelled to Missouri. One of his tops was a socail call on former President Harry Truman, who was by then a very old man. (This was the same Truman who said in 1960 "Richard Nixon is a shifty-eyed goddamned liar and the American people know it!") None the less, the Trumans welcomed the Nixons into their home for coffee. Truman may have loathed Nixon, but he was not about to be rude.
