When Democrats first "won" the House and the Senate some were elated by it for some reason. For some reason they thought that all of the Constitutional abuses that this country has been subjected to for the last six plus years had just vanished because of that day. They thought that all of the crimes committed against the Constitution and the American people by the Bush cabal would somehow fall into the abyss and it would be as if none of our freedoms had been sacrificed because the people had nowhere else to go in the voting booth. I did not believe it then, however, and I don't believe it now. As a matter of fact, the day the Democrats "won" the House and Senate I had the same sinking feeling in my gut that I have had for the last six plus years, because many of those Democrats elected were in power when those Constitutional abuses occurred, and they did nothing about them.
Now they come out and tell us that certain things are going to be "investigated." To me that is just another way to say that they will use any "investigations" to bide time while their stars run for President in the system they too have bought and sold while using the occupation of Iraq that they won't end, because they really don't want to do what the Constitution demands of them according to the oaths they will take on January 3, 2007. And I even remember telling someone that I think Democrats will work out some sort of deal in order not to impeach Bush by seeking gains elsewhere, or he will find a way to blackmail his way out of it, and they will acquiesce for political expediency... again... and it looks like what I said may just be starting to come to fruition.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/12/20/AR2006122001784.htmlAccording to this article in the Washington Post, Bush is now agreeable to a minimum wage hike (of course with tax breaks for businesses attached to it because he cares about people :::sarcasm::: ) and even though I think it raises it to where it should have been five years ago too slowly, it at least is something, though not nearly good enough. So reading this got me to thinking.... what if Bush tries to use these types of bills to bargain his way out of impeachment? Would Democrats in Congress actually consider using our Constitution as a bargaining chip? Would they be willing to sacrifice this Democracy just to gain a little political leverage that they think will get them votes in 2008?
Is that all any of this is about?Well, the Constitution is not a bargaining chip, and I won't find any increase in the minimum wage or any other bill passage meant to appease the war criminals that still run this government as anything other than blackmail if the criminals in this cabal are not impeached for their crimes against this Constitution. I don't care what bills Bush allows to pass in order to save himself and his minions from the fate that is the moral imperative of our Constitution. Nothing that could happen in the next two years could take away what we have have allowed to be sacrificed for it. The Constitution is not a bargaining chip. I hope Democrats realize this, because if not, they too can be voted out of the offices they were elected to by a mandate who wants the war in Iraq to END, and who wants REAL accountability for those who sold our soul as a nation. And I for one will accept no bargains on that score.
