Is There A Politically Correct Neo-Con War On Science?

Is there a war on science in the federal government? Jesse Russell has more:

By Jesse Russell

Government scientists are becoming more vocal with complaints that when they have a finding that goes against the beliefs of the Bush Administration that they are being silenced. The most recent squashing of scientific dissent comes from the U.S. Geological Survey, where new rules have been implemented that require screening of all studies coming out of the organization. The rules are intended to standardize the quality of scientific reporting for the sake of public relations. The new requirements say that the USGS communication office must be notified "about information products containing high visibility topics or topics of policy-sensitive nature." In 2002, a report suggesting that oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge would harm caribou resulted in course reversal. One week later a counter study was released suggesting that wasn't the case at all.

1. Absolutely....if the science doesn't fit this administrations narrow
view of the world...then it is deemed not valid...

You see this is the same thing that happened with Katrina and the Gulf Coast....the scientist warned the administration how bad the projections were for the storm and the administration chose to not listen the those that have studied and worked in the field for years...instead they chose to listen to a party hack....

Criminal if you ask me...
