Biden plans to run
MANCHESTER, N.H. Delaware Senator Joseph Biden is making no bones about it -- he intends to run for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Speaking with reporters at Southern New Hampshire University, Biden said, "I am running for president." Asked if that was his "official" announcement, Biden drew laughter by replying, "I've announced it 27 times."

Biden says he plans to set up a campaign committee in January.

Biden's appearance was part of a weekend swing through New Hampshire, aimed at boosting his chances in the state's first-in-the-nation presidential primary.

1. Does that mean that even after 27 times no one takes his candidacy or chances seriously?
Loaded question, I know, but still...

5. He's been planning this for over a year
He mentioned it when I saw him speak here in October of last year. He said he wanted to travel around and get an idea of what kind of support he could expect. I guess he feels he has a chance- more likely, though, he wouldn't mind a VP slot. He's intelligent and has an excellent knowledge of foreign policy issues, so that could help our ticket. There are several candidates I like better, but I could see him in a VP role.

7. Saw Sen. Biden speaking on C-Span tonight
He was addressing a fairly small gathering in New Hampshire about Iraq and his opposition to the latest BushCrash, the "surge" (20k+ additional troops). I have to admit I am not real familiar with Senator Biden, but after viewing his speech and his handling of follow-up questions from the audience, I was pretty impressed. He was readily able to quote facts, figures, dates, etc. in discussing the issues.

Not familiar with the MBNA reference...?

8. money
He's running, now its a matter of trying to raise enough money to compete against Clinton. He has never hidden his ambition or intentions.

he's not going to win, but it'll be interesting.

10. He's already announced. Way to early in my opinion
The reporter's a tad dense. He has been running for months now.

I think he just likes that people listen to him more seriously when he's a candidate.
