Groups Mixed on Mary Cheney's Pregnancy

Conservative leaders voiced dismay Wednesday at news that Mary Cheney,
the lesbian daughter of Dick Cheney, is pregnant, while a gay-rights group
said the vice president faces "a lifetime of sleepless nights" for serving in
an administration that has opposed recognition of same-sex couples.

Mary Cheney, 37, and her partner of 15 years, Heather Poe, 45, are
expecting a baby in late spring, said Lea Anne McBride, a spokeswoman for
the vice president.

Janice Crouse of Concerned Women for America described the pregnancy
as "unconscionable."

Carrie Gordon Earll, a policy analyst for the conservative Christian ministry
Focus on the Family, expressed empathy for the Cheney family but depicted
the newly announced pregnancy as unwise.

"Just because you can conceive a child outside a one-woman, one-man
marriage doesn't mean it's a good idea," said. "Love can't replace a
mother and a father."

1. It is none of my business.

It is none of AFA's business. Or jerry's or Pat's or anyone's business what she does with her close partner in terms of reproductive decisions.

The fact that her father is a major league horse's ass who associates himself with ultra-close-minded nazi-religious types is also not my concern, at least on the topic of this woman.

2. they know their arguments are foolish, right?

I mean, obviously they can't say "God hates fags, and so they shouldn't be around children", but the arguments they are presenting in public, they know that they are stupid, right?

Their argument seems to be that they are against raising a child unless there is a committed hetero marriage supporting the child.

They have to realize that excludes every single parent, right?

Somehow I doubt it. I do wonder if he'll be in the delivery room, witnessing the glorious miracle of birth! ;-)

Well that person couldn't be much more wrong, and I speak from experience having been raised by my widowed Grandmother who also had to care for my invalid mother. Her love and caring got me through one helluva lot.

an abusive father....so that horse crap of a baby need a mother and a father doesn't fly with me either. My mother did much better for us once he was gone!

7. The children of the elites get whatever they want, while the poorer LGBTs

get the shaft from the likes of Bush and Cheney.

This is a class issue, as well as a human rights issue. Gays and lesbians have the same G-d given right as heteros. It is unconscionable to deny gay couples the same rights and privileges as heteros. What makes Mary Cheney such a despicable character is that she has been a strong supporter of a government that denies LGBTs the dignity that they deserve.
