Are the DNC and the grassroots powerful enough to prevent the DLC and
Hillary from prevailing in 2008?

1. False choice
Sen. Clinton stands on her own as a candidate and her appeal is to all Dem voters, not just to the few who belong to the DLC. I doubt she would consider herself their surrogate.

8. Looks to me like she has shifted way to the right and is beholden to
major corporations not unlike the republicans.

2. The DNC will not get involved in "selling" one candidate over another. NT

3. We are ALL Democrats. Period.
May the candidate that gives us the best shot win. And I'm fairly certain that's how BOTH entities see it too.

9. Not Carville. If you think all democrats are equal you must not have
heard of Zell Miller or Joe Lieberman. The corporations need to keep control of the government and i feel they will try to control the DLC. The DNC speaks more for the people. It wasn't an accident the Carville started the mud flinging. We need to stick with Dean and the 50 state strategy and warn off Carville, Clinton, and the DLC.

4. No. And why would you want them to interfere with the Democratic process?

5. Quite possibly.
The progressive grassroots movement is growing. That take-over of the Congress put 18 new progressive Democratic Reps in the House and 6 new Progressive Dems into the Senate.

We have only just started. I think the DNC, with the 50 State Strategy, is an effective force for bringing in voters that are more progressive than what we had in the 1990s. This movement is growing. It is entirely possible that any 2008 candidates will be greatly influenced by this.

7. I agree. The DLC fears the 50 state strategy and the grassroots power.
That's why they have aggressively started their war against Dean and the DNC. They want to get control of the DNC so they can control the party.

6. Besides the point, the grassroots really need to stick together
and be a united powerful voice. We need to stand up to the DLC and let them know, that they are not the entire Democratic Party and they need our help to win.. If they think they can sell the American people a candidate with commercials, dirty tricks and a lot of money to throw around they will lose once again. You need to reach the people not their mail boxes and TV.

This is what I regularly write to my Senator, Debbie Stabenow, DLC member,
in the hopes that she will see the error of her ways and leave that stinking
club and start voting like the democrat I know she wants to be ALL the time!

10. I don't see how.
All candidate names being thrown out so far are backed by their corporate masters (Gore and possibly Vilsak - though I don't know enough about him -- would be the only exceptions). You're focused on Hillary but Hillary, Kerry, Clark, Obama, Edwards -- are ALL the same candidate in that they all answer to those they serve and it sure as hell ain't us.
