What message did the voters send to the Democratic Party?
In my opinion, and my opinion only, the voters said they were tired of the crooks and unethical behavior of Congress. They said they were tired of a Congress that was out of touch with them. They were dismayed and disappointed at the huge debt and deficits of a so-called "conservative" Party. They were sick of a war that had no end in sight and appears to be getting worse by the day. They are sick of giving our Treasury away to the wealthiest people in this country and wasting money on unneeded defense contract. They were angry that there was no oversight of the Executive Branch and no accountability, no matter how catastrophic the errors. They want people to be held responsible - even if that means impeachment. This is what I heard from the people.

1. That's the main theme I took away
Truth be told, precious few voters this year gave a damn about stem-cell research, illegal wiretapping, torture, elimination of habeas corpus, etc. I wish more people paid more attention to these issues - but a win is a win is a win. And we won with honor, fair and freakin' square.

2. derby,..I thought Kentuck hit it pretty squarely on the head,.....
---- ...and I don't think you have to worry too much about the possible negligence of the voters about the issues you mention. For one thing, illegal wiretapping, torture and the assault on habeas corpus are "war-related" issues, and are part of the overall complex of anti-Iraq War feedback that was resoundingly registered. I think you can relax somewhat...

3. Democrats promised to run the country better than the Repubs.
The Repubs screwed up across the board, on Iraq, corruption,
the economy, health care, you name it. The mess in Iraq
is at the top the list.

Democrats said "We can do better." The mandate from the voters
is to make good on that promise.

4. all that and more... including...
They're grew tired of the GOP failed experiment in governance of the base, for the base, and by the base.

Lesson to Democrats - swing too far in the opposite direction and you'll be back to minority status.

7. The number one issue uniting Rep and Dem voters was CORRUPTION, and not one strategist

saw it coming.

That's why they are all denying it and talking about other things while the media does its best to pretend it never showed up in the exit polls.

The coverup wing of the Dem party certainly wants to avoid it like the plague, and they are trying to marginalize all the anti-corruption, open government Democrats to keep their voices muted.

11. What I heard
They were sick of the war and had no idea why we are there and don't want that to happen ever again.

No one was happy with the economy. They were sick of jobs going overseas.

And yes, immigration was a big issue as well. Backfired on the Republicans, because their little fence did not make many happy.

Why can't we try working with Mexico and trying to help their economy so they have jobs there.

And oh, Medicare prices and education were also big.

13. Things can't get any worse
Honestly, I think that's where a lot of people are at. They're fed up and they didn't vote as much for anything, other than a change in the status quo.

Now, it's up our dems in congress to show 'em what we've got.
