Remember when Pelosi sided with Murtha when he spoke out on Iraq?
Guess who went after her then, back in December.

Murtha did not call for a quick withdrawal really, so the article misrepresents that. Note the Bullmoose (Marshall Wittmann) goes after her as did Steny Hoyer..who is about to become a rival.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/12/01/AR2005120101491.html

"House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's embrace Wednesday of a rapid withdrawal from Iraq highlighted the Democratic Party's fissures on war policy, putting the House's top Democrat at odds with her second in command while upsetting a consensus developing in the Senate."

What's more, House Minority Whip Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.) issued a statement Wednesday that was in marked contrast to Pelosi's. "I believe that a precipitous withdrawal of American forces in Iraq could lead to disaster, spawning a civil war, fostering a haven for terrorists and damaging our nation's security and credibility," he said.

Marshall Wittmann, a former Republican political strategist now with the centrist Democratic Leadership Council, said Pelosi may have resurrected her party's most deadly liability -- voters' lack of trust in the party on national security.

"If Karl Rove was writing the timing of this, he wouldn't have written it any differently, with the president of the United States expressing resolve and the Democratic leader offering surrender," Wittmann said, referring to Bush's top adviser. "For Republicans, this is manna from heaven."

Then I wonder which "undisclosed Democratic strategist" talked about the liberal wing's frustrations boiling over.

Her pronouncement Wednesday, more than anything, was proof that "the frustrations of the activist wing of the Democratic Party have boiled over," said a prominent Democratic pollster, who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of angering clients.

Pelosi appears to know what she's doing on this. And Dean said twice on Fox today, we have to figure a way to get out of Iraq...and several others apparently said similar things. I saw a few headlines today that Democrats say we need to get out.

7. He is listed separately, as a mention. You need to correct your list.
I would like to find out more about why those 3 Dems are listed...I will do some searching at CREW tomorrow. I had seen the list before, but it is different at the site now.

This is part of the battle, I think, about Iraq. They forced Pelosi to back off that other time.

I don't really like any of them, but Iraq is destroying our country.

William Jefferson (D-LA)
Charles Taylor (R-NC)
Jerry Lewis (R-CA)
Maxine Waters (D-CA)
Gary Miller (R-CA)
Curt Weldon (R-PA)

Five Members to Watch:
Chris Cannon (R-UT)

“CREW created this exhaustive go-to guide on corruption in Congress to expose and hold accountable those members of Congress who believe they are above the law,” Melanie Sloan, executive director of CREW said today. “The officials named in this report have chosen to enrich themselves and their families and friends by abusing the power of their office, rather than work for the public good. Their collective corruption affects all Americans.”

They really did a lot of correcting. Where is the page where their corruptness is detailed? Hope they just did not have to have token Democrats. I can not imagine Maxine Waters and Murtha with the likes of K. Harris and Tom Feeney.

9. Not imaginin doesn't mean it isn't true
Unfortunately our side has people who aren't 100% squeaky clean. I doubt Murtha and Waters are as corrupt as Cruella or Feeney, but the symbolism of being on lists like that doesn't help.

3. i don't really like Steny Hoyer
i think he is part of the Clinton bunch. and they don't like Pelosi.

the fact that Pelosi who is liberal would back Murtha who is pretty conservative shows me that Murtha is the right guy for the job. at least far better than Hoyer. i think she views Murtha as a strong voice in IRaq and why we won in the first place. and of course Murtha gets a lot of credit for that.

i think Hoyer wants to take the speaker job away from pelosi. if we lost the elections i think they would have blamed it on Pelosi also by saying she is too liberal and we need someone else.

i think it's really important that Murtha get this job and i'm going to contact Congress members to back Murtha.

5. Hoyer should NOT get this position. He has many skeletons in his closet, non-sexual, that
someday will come out. He's one of the good ole boys and will not make us proud.

6. "Boiled over"?
I don't think that they have EVEN seen the beginning. I pray that we do not get a Hubert Humphrey clone on 08. People are a lot meaner than they were in 1968.
