Things I've learned in GD2004, so far
1) Rich people can't be liberal. Period. If a rich person is claiming to be liberal, they're probably a Rovian plant, or part of a conspiracy of some sort.

2) High-ranking military officers can't be liberal. Period. If a high-ranking military officer is claiming to be liberal, they're probably a Rovian plant, or part of a conspiracy of some sort.

3) Any person who was a Senator immediately after 9/11 who is not Russ Feingold is not a liberal, and should not be the Democratic nominee. (It should be noted, apparently Paul Wellstone become a DINO at this time).

4) The Drudge Report is simultaneously horrendously inaccurate and the absolute truth.

5) Counterpunch is simultaneously horrendously inaccurate and the absolute truth.

6) Should my candidate win a primary, it is a triumph of democracy. Should he / she not win, the establishment is trying to flout the will of the people.

7) If my candidate doesn't win the nomination, I won't vote / will vote third party. This way, things will be that much worse, and it'll be even harder to move the political center back to the left!

Did I miss any?

but paraphrased, it has happened. There was one thread where Clark supporters were bashed for not being "working class" for instance, and the candidate was going to allow Enron style corruption to continue.

36. Rich people make better liberals
If you think about it, rich people have more time to devote to bettering themselves, and since they are not constantly fighting for survival, they have a more refined ability to empathize with others. Also, notice it's the trailer trash types that are still bigots in America, while all the Ivy League schools are very integrated now. That's why all the great presidents - like JFK and FDR, were wealthy.

47. Wha-wha-what?!?!
If you think about it, rich people have more time to devote to bettering themselves, and since they are not constantly fighting for survival, they have a more refined ability to empathize with others.

And since they're not constantly fighting for survival, they don't know what it's like for those who are -- thereby impeding their empathy.

Also, notice it's the trailer trash types that are still bigots in America, while all the Ivy League schools are very integrated now.

Ahhh... good to see the patrician spirit is still alive and well. That "trailer trash" just don't know what's good for 'em, and it's up to the more refined to tell them the way things ought to be. This stereotype is just plain downright offensive, and reeks of the elitism charged leveled at "liberals".

With regards to Ivy League schools, spend some time hanging out with a group of Ivy League business school graduates. I'm relatively certain you'll find a sense of smug superiority and disdain for the "rabble" the likes of which you've rarely seen up close and personal. For the short version, you can always just look at the WSJ editorial page.

That's why all the great presidents - like JFK and FDR, were wealthy.

I must have missed those millions that Lincoln had when he became President. Or do you not consider him to be a "great president", simply because there isn't a (D) after his name?

4. A corollary to 6)
Should my candidate win a primary, it is a triumph of democracy. Should he / she not win, the media brainwashed the voters to support the wrong candidate.

Otherwise, I think you have it pretty well scoped out.

Here are more in the same theme...

1. If my candidate doesn't win the primary or caucus, then it must be the result of either cheating or a conspiracy of some sort.

2. My candidate is the only one who has grassroots support, all the others are corporate sell-outs.

3. My candidate is the only one who represents real change, and is the most pure of all the rest.

4. If my candidate doesn't win the nomination, the Democratic party is doomed.

Everybody's angry in the Democratic party (understandable) and the natural result is that people aren't thinking before they say something.
Hopefully we'll get the anger out of our system to do something positive and dicth Brainstorm-in-a-teacup in November.

When my candidate was the front runner it was because people were all well informed and politically estute. Now that people are voting and there is a different front runner it's because people are stupid sheeple and letting the media pick their candidate for them.

The sudden drop in the IQ of the voting public coincidently came at the same moment as the media conspiracy against my candidate.

but they were all as worthless as the ones you posted so no loss.

I think the only thing worth noting that can be learned at GD04 is that to have been a Bush enabler during this rise of fascism in America is perfectly acceptable, no in fact, it's all part of a clever strategy.

I haven't seen so much mental gymnastics since I studied the way cults work as I see here.

In this forum the presidential race is discussed. That would mean that it is primarily the presidential candidates that are discussed. Wellstone's not among them so I do not know why you felt he was remotely relevent to the discussion.

Most interesting of all, after you introduce unrelated name to discussion you imply I miscomprehended the post I commented on.
