O.K., 5 calls in NJ from Kean supporters to "my italian american friend".
I live in NJ. My last name ends in a vowel (I'm 1/2 Italian on my fathers side). I've received 5 automated calls from assorted Italian American luminaries (Joe Piscopo, Mario Andretti, etc.) and 2 mailers telling me about how Bob Menendez is anti Italian because he voted against Alito.
I am just absolutely dying to know how they got my name or what list they pulled this from. There's no way in hell I'm on any republican list anywhere for anything. And the italian side of my family have been heavily involved in local democratic politics for the past 30 years or so.
So anyone else in NJ or anywhere else getting this? Or have any idea what type of list they likely pulled my name and number from to come up with this? I'm not even involved in any way shape or form with any type of italian heritage or cultural groups or anything of the sort.
My best friend's father who has been heavily involved in the Democratic Party for well over 30 years made this known to me over the weekend. It seems they have somehow gotten a hold of a list of Italian-American names from the voter rolls or something and are attempting to dupe the people into believing that voting against Alito was a vote against Italians and not a vote against a right wing maniac. Lots of people in his community are insulted and outraged by it. It's a statewide effort.
..and even though they lean liberal they are far from slam dunk Menendez voters. I think I convinced them last night it was the only option, but they were pretty ticked off about those calls. Especially my mom who is not even Italian.
