Bush says he will consult with generals on change of tactics in Iraq.

No details yet...

'We are constantly adjusting tactics,' president says
NBC NEWS EXCLUSIVE

Updated: 15 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - President Bush acknowledged Friday that the situation in Iraq was tough and said he would consult with American generals to see if a change in tactics was necessary to combat the escalating violence.

Seventy-four American troops have died in Iraq in October, which is likely to become the deadliest month for U.S. forces in nearly two years.

“One of the reasons you’re seeing more casualties is the enemy is active and so are our troops,” Bush said in a brief interview with The Associated Press.

22. "CUT AND RUN SOME OTHER WAY!! CUT AND RUN SOME OTHER WAY!!"
What happened to King George the Torturer's "iron resolve?" What about his reputation as a Resolute Leader,Consummate Hero?

As the cowardly terrorist attack was underway, President George W. Bush, recieved the news during a visit to a local elementary school in Florida. The iron resolve that was displayed upon President Bush's face made resolute the mettle and determination of the fledgling President under fire.

Doubts about Bush the younger's ability to lead had been circulating in the media ever since his narrow victory in November 2000.

President Bush faced many tough decisions that day, not the least of which how to effectively deal with the most cowardly and dasterdly concieved attack on US soil in all of our history.

Refusing to respond in haste, the President carefully weighed his options, recognizing fully that this was a proctracted struggle that would take a signifigant time to resolve. He knew also, because of the subsequent attack on the Pentagon and the abortive attempt on Camp David, thwarted by the personal bravery of Mark Bingham and a handful of passangers who chose to oppose terror at the cost of their own lives--- Our President knew that their tremendous sacrifice and valor must never be made to seem hollow; must never be cheapened by political expediency; must never be forgotten.

Who knew that "refusing to respond in haste" was what he was doing when he appeared to just sit and do nothing other than read a children's book?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA--you can't make this shit up!

Oh wait, they did...

He (*) said he planned consultations in the next day with Gen. John Abizaid, the top U.S. commander in the Middle East, and Gen. George Casey, who leads the U.S.-led Multinational Forces in Iraq.

15. "Adjusting tactics" and "adjusting strategy" are very different.
Only a radically different strategic plan may make a difference. Simply tinkering with tactics is meaningless. Of course, the US cannot "win" in Iraq - Bush has already ensured utter defeat. History has been written. The US can only minimize the damage to its hegemony at this point.

25. If Abizaid has any balls and self-respect
He'll tell it like it is, then hold a press conference and say how grateful hs is finally to have had a chance to be heard. Then resign his commission.

The point of the resignation would be to avoid letting himself be used for political purposes. "If you would not listen to me for all this time, I am not going to let you use me to save your own skin"

We all know damned good and well he does not need the retirement benefits - he can make a fortune on the lecture circuit, as a commentator, and/or sign on with Wes Clark or others to help drive toward fixing the problem. Particularly if he does the above.

It must be painful to be on active duty and sworn to follow the Commander-in-Chief, with all the fealty that is rightfully built in to the military chain of command. The number of retired officers who've spoken out keeps growing; having someone high up quit so he can speak freely would be the coup de grace.

The stand down/stand up thing was another failure. Why dont they face facts: they never had a handle on this clusterF from day one, and they never will

28. Why the hell did you invade in the first place?

You were advised by your own people this was a mistake right from the start.

Thousands of lives and billions of dollars later you're starting to pay attention.

You really are one hell of a slow learner. Does it even occur to you the damage you have done?
