GOTV Latino strategy in WA...excellent move by the DNC.
Edited on Fri Oct-20-06 01:22 AM by madfloridian
Found this comment at the DFA blog. Sounds like a good idea.

Quote:
"Speaking of the Latino vote...

...we just had a representative from our Lation coalition that is excited as hell because they have been given the means to be able to contact latino voters in TWO languages, with flyers, with campaign literature, with a WA STATE HOTLINE for Latino voters that have problems or need questions answered and a National state hotline for samey samey. all brought to you by... THE DNC

the entire project was funded by the DNC and they have also provided many excellent fund raisers to help out."

2. There is so much going on sort of under the radar.
On Tavis Smiley's show Monday, Tavis was asking about the Hispanic vote. Dean said they knew what they would do...said they had been holding many meetings with many groups. He seemed confident.

I like this idea.

And people gripe that he is spending money on this. It takes money to GOTV.

3. If Dean takes this (perfect) moment to mobilize the Latino vote
we'll take the majority for the foreseeable future. That's how important it is.

Why does everyone think that the GOP went out of their way to FAKE Bush's numbers among Latino voters? Because the GOP is looking at that demographic and remembering Reagan's record in Latin America and they know they're screwed. They're thinking about how their nutcase 30%er base has tried to force them into public statements of bigotry and they're sweating buckets.

This could be one of the very best investments the DNC can make and it's time sensitive.

4. i saw a documentary in the early 80's
about Latin America...don't know which country though

The biggest thing that stuck in my mind was a wall with the words "Yanqui go home!" written on it.
