A message from my pre-teen daughter
"Is everyone in Congress out of their minds? Can our President be anymore of an idiot? This is SO incredibly stupid, the habeas corpus law. It is unconstitutional, cruel, and immoral! What has happened to our nation where our government has stooped to this low level. I worry for the future."

hehehe the words of my young daughter...
you've made quite a name for yourself, "Dubya"

1. I feel so sorry for the young people.
They are the only reason I am in this. If it weren't for the children we could let the whole thing go to hell. NGU. Peace to your daughter. Be sure to reassure her that we are on the case! Peace on earth, kIm

14. Don't feel bad for 'em...
Help them understand and they'll set it right. Maybe they'll have a fight on their hands, or maybe they'll bring us back to our senses, but I trust this upcoming generation.

4. sorry guys - my kid hijacked my username - I had nothing to do with this
we had a lively discussion at dinner since my other kid will be voting for the first time. The 12 year old is particulary disturbed by the habeas corpus demise (they've been discussing it in soc studies) and came over to the computer and did this without my knowledge.

9. Good job on the parenting front, BlueNation (now fix your sig file)
Sorry to break this to ya, but that quote doesn't come from George Washington. It's from a treaty negotiated under the Adams administration signed with one of the Barbary States to protect American shippers in the Mediterranean Sea from piracy--the clause about America not being founded on Christianity was flattery language making us look more palatable as friends to the secular Muslim states of North Africa. The senate ratified that treaty in the 1790s, so it's a pretty good indicator of the secular nature of our government at the time. I don't doubt that Washington would have signed off on that treaty, had it happened 2-3 years ealier. But he never actually said, wrote, or otherwise endorsed those words.

13. That wasn't actually said by Robert Kennedy. It's falsely attributed. It's
ONLY KIDDING!! Yes, that's a great quote. Good pick.

17. My God,
A literate 12 year old. I wish I could get my 14 year olds to write that well. (they are improving, but spelling is atrocious)

Good luck at 16 ;)
