Conservative Indy Star endorses dems in 2 of the 3 hot races
Bowl me over - the star endorses Ellsworth over GOp rep Hostettler, and Donnolly over GOP rep Chocola.

They also endorse, ugh, Sodrel. But I would have thought they would have endorsed Chocola and Hostettler.

Interesting times in Hoosierland.

1. You can bet Greg Garrison will be all riled up on Monday morning
Probably will be talking some stuff about how the Star has been taken over by communists.

2. they endorsed four dems (out of 9 seats) - and almost begged dems
to put up a substantial candidate (in the future) against crazy dannyboy so that they wouldn't be forced to endorse the loon. Funny stuff, that.

3. While their endorsements of a FEW Dems is good,
their daily delivery of fluff and irrelevance as news has not changed.

As for Greg Garrison, he is simply Rush Limbaugh lite on the extremely right wing radio station WIBC.

4. I found their endorsements... surprising.
I think it is more a reflection on the change of mood of the Hoosier voting public than it is of any new depth on their part. Lite and fluffy is pretty standard for the Star.

5. Sodrel?
I still believe Baron Hill will win the 9th district seat.
But for the Indy Star to endorse a Democrat is more than a surprise its shocking news...

6. They picked Sodrel, but I think the voters will pick Hill.
only the swiftboating by b-ton wacko Bud Bernitt at the last minute pushed Sodrel over the top last time. Now there is so much publicity around who is behind the attack ads (out of staters) - I think that there is a healthy cynicism that will prevent any last minute advantage for Sodrel.

8. Does the Star's endorsement(s) influence the vote?

9. I have never sensed
that the Star influences public opinion, much. So I doubt it. I view it more as a reflection - that even its conservative readership, is getting fed up with the GOP machine. Granted they still seem to play nice to Mitch - but it is hard to deny that a big part of the Hoosier discontent is related to Mitch and DST and the Toll Road power play.

10. Nyet
There are people that will vote Republican no matter what, even if they have seen their jobs gone overseas, they will always vote GOP because that's what Jesus wants them to do. The difference now is that there are more people that are angry at what is going on and are taking the trouble to vote.
