My LTTE...will this convince any Republicans to vote for Democrats?
I'm planning to send this letter to my local newspaper. There is a 250 word limit and the letter can't endorse any particular candidate. Feel free to make comments. And thanks! :patriot:

To the Editor:
This is a plea to those who voted for Bush in 2000 and/or 2004 and are experiencing “buyer’s remorse”, those Republicans who are disgusted and appalled by the lies and corruption in our Republican-controlled political system.

Please don’t stay at home and refuse to participate rather than vote for a Democrat. Our political system is dysfunctional because one party controls everything and will do and say anything to retain that control. It has been said that “absolute power corrupts absolutely”; we simply have to look at the current state of affairs to see how true that is.

Democrats have been demonized by people who will say anything to stay in power. Please understand that if these people would lie about war, and cover up for sexual predators, they just might not be telling the truth about Democrats. Try to learn as much as you can about ALL the candidates running in your district before dismissing the Democrats out of hand. Then if you must vote for their Republican opponents, you’ll be making a more informed decision.

If you care about the health of this country, please don’t abstain from voting in November. And don’t vote a straight Republican ticket simply because you always have. Help bring some balance back to our political system by voting for Democrats, even if it’s the first time you ever have. Your country will thank you. And, by putting the interests of your country before party loyalty, you will truly be a patriot.

3. I think it's PERFECT, as is, Rhiannon!
You set just the right tone by asking people to THINK about their voting responsibilities, as well as to THINK about who the best candidate might be to serve their interests, and the best interests of the country as a whole.

Not preachy, not angry: reasoned and balanced.

Very well done!

:applause:

Listen you dumbass, ignorant constitution hating swine; thanks to you and your fucked up voting patterns our country is going straight to fucking hell. Vote for democrats or don't vote or get your chickenhawk, cowardly pedophilia violated asses kicked.

Think that'll work? Believe me, written from the heart.

7. I agree, BOSSHOG--I appreciate an angry approach, too
But I'm trying to be persuasive here. I'll save the angry approach for another letter.

I love your letter, though. Thanks for making me laugh!

8. Hi Rhiannon
I have in laws from Topeka north to the State line. My mother in law is a sweet little old ass kicking democrat. My brothers in law aren't too political but they do lean to the right. None have ever served in the military, imagine that.

9. Hi back at-cha!
Kansas is a mixed bag, politically--it's a red state with a centrist Democrat for governor (whom I fully expect to win again--whoohoo!). Yet we have Brownback and Ryun and Roberts. And Fred Phelps, which is another disgusting can of worms entirely. I don't know if my letter will convince any Repubs to vote for Dems, but all I can do is try.

10. I have an autographed picture of Governor Sebilius
framed and proudly on display in our garage (my furnished doghouse.) I think every state has a Phelps, he just brings more attention on himself. I was a big distance runner as a young lad and idolized Jim Ryun, wow, what a disappointment now. I chuckle everytime I hear of brownbacks presidential ambitions.

you write that letter and give em food for thought. I'm amazed at the number of anti-bush ltte's here in South Mississippi.

11. I love Kathleen Sebelius!
She is an excellent governor, and she WILL win another term! And Jim Ryun's about to get his ass kicked by Nancy Boyda (Go Nancy!).

The tide IS turning, (even in places like Kansas and Mississippi ;)). But one more LTTE can't hurt.

12. Love it! How many papers and how soon can you get it in?
It's beautifully clear and sensitive to the moderate repub view. It's like the gentle nudge back to bed for a sleepwalker. You can help this country wake up from it's nightmare while it's psyche is glimpsing reality.

13. Thanks, I like that sleepwalker analogy.
Nicely put!

I sent the letter this afternoon to my local paper, the Lawrence Journal World. I'll need to cut out 100 words to send it to the KC Star--their limit is 150 words.

Maybe the newspapers in the places with the "critical" races....I need to do some research.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.
