Ileana Ros Lehtenin, U.S. Congresswoman from Florida's 18th district, is a pox on democracy, being a Bush family fixer of the worst kind.

One of her shenanigans? She participated in a deal with Poppy where Cuban terrorist-airline bomber Orlando Bosch was paroled to Florida against the demands of the INS in exchange for producing Cuban-American votes. Here's what the Justice Department said about Bosch: Bosch had "repeatedly expressed and demonstrated a willingness to cause indiscriminate injury and death."

Her campaign manager in her first congressional campaign? Jeb Bush.

Here's a list of Bosch's offenses in which he planned or participated (remember, he's a free man in Florida today because of Ros Lehtinen):

"March 1, 2001—In 1990, through the direct influence of President George Herbert Walker Bush, Orlando Bosch—fugitive from justice, undocumented alien, serial terrorist and airline bomber—was released from prison in Miami, at the urging of Bush’s son Jeb on behalf of Miami Republicans.

Jeb (the family Florida fixer) traded the unusual release from federal custody for the votes of Floridians and delivered Florida to his father’s electoral tally in the 1992 presidential election.

Orlando Bosch was not released because he was rehabilitated and repentant. He was not released because he had served out a sentence. He was set free by the Bushes for Republican gain with seeming disregard for public safety here and abroad and for the “Rule of Law.” Thirty countries had refused Bosch asylum because of his criminality. An acting attorney general in Miami and the INS had refused to allow him to remain in the U.S. In January 1989 the acting attorney general wrote: “For 30 years Bosch has been resolute and unwavering in his advocacy of terrorist violence. . . . He has repeatedly expressed and demonstrated a willingness to cause indiscriminate injury and death.’“ Attorney General Dick Thornburgh described Bosch as an “unreformed terrorist.”

And yet the Bushes set him free.

Even more troubling than the release of a dangerous man in exchange for votes is the manner of adjudication. President Bush did not pardon Bosch. He apparently simply stepped in and exerted the influence of his office to release Bosch against the recommendations of the district director of the INS and the Department of Justice."

3. On Maher's Show? NOT LIKELY
He usually has a comedian as one of the liberals, and the other one is usually a mature Democrat. He always tends to pick an OBNOXIOUS and RUDE repub, who then engages in a SHOUTING match over the more quiet intellectual Democrat on the panel.

It then depends on whether the liberal comedian can get a word in edge wise. On "real time," it seems to get more and more conservative everytime I watch it. So I don't much anymore. I think I've seen 1 episode so far this season.

8. hi Donna!
One thing to keep in mind about Bosch is that there is misinformation floating around about him. He was NOT pardoned by Bush. He was paroled. This particular tidbit of error (which originated on the WSWS website) has been parroted everywhere. But I know for a fact that he was not pardoned, because I -- with a fair amount of difficulty -- obtained from the DoJ a list of GHWB's pardons, and Bosch was not on it. He was paroled.

curse her out her craziness? Then Bill came to her defense and told Belzer to apologize to her.

7. Oh shit! Does this mean the U.S. supports terrorists???
Should I seek shelter and wait for the "shock and awe" to start? Should I hide in a bunker and wait for the jets to come screaming overhead in the night to drop incendiary bombs on me and my family? I don't support terror, but being part of the U.S. shouldn't I expect some sort of retaliation from...oh yeah...that's right...the U.S. can do whatever the fuck it wants, hypocritical or not. Silly me, I'm so embarrassed.

:sarcasm:
