Another angle on the Foley Coverup?
I was thinking about this, and about how the Republican leadership covered up the misdeeds of a fellow Republican who seems to have been a secure vote for them.

And then it occurred to me, maybe there was a REASON Foley was a secure vote. Maybe the Republican leadership has known about this for a long while, and was using it to make sure Foley always voted their way?

Not excusing Foley with this idea. Just thinking that they may have been blackmailing him to ensure his cooperation?

1. And when it came to light says to himself "Thank God" and quits.
To me that makes a lot of sense as to why he resigned instead of "Prove it" like Hastert is doing.

2. All the Repigs are in lockstep anyway.
I doubt they had to put any pressure in him to secure his vote. The repigs are nothing if not loyal to Der Fuhrer.

6. Maybe there are reasons ALL of them have been in lockstep.
That's a problem with their brand of morality. Rather than talk about small problems, you hide them, so that over time they fester and become BIG problems.

Maybe a lot of these Republicans have developed big problems, and some people who have been taking notes have been using those problems as leverage.

3. We should always worry about people who personal issues that
make them susceptible to blackmail. No doubt Karl Rove understands the value of undisclosed information and how it can influence a vote. I much prefer having open gays like Frank doing our business than people who live in fear of being exposed...it's a powerful lever in the wrong hands.

But that's the problem isn't it? A gay person running as a Republican can't be open with their sexuality without there being a conflict with the moral values BS brand that Republicans must promote.

4. Has he's voting record strayed from the flock lately?
I don't know but there might be something there. Than again so much damage unless they know November is secure.

5. Good question.
Any recent "off" votes, or any issues coming up that he might have been having problems with?
