36 Days to Go: College Democrats Mobilize to Get Out Youth Vote
Washington, DC-College Democrats of America today announced a field plan to
mobilize the youth vote for Election Day. CDA chapters all over the country
will kick off national canvassing activities, dorm storms and campaign
invasions designed to maximize the youth vote and help Democrats create a new
direction for America. Building on the success of their national canvassing day
on September 16, in which they did peer-to-peer outreach, going dorm-to-dorm,
door-to-door, CDA will hold another canvassing day on Halloween with the goal
of reaching out to thousands of college students across the country.

On October 21-22, CDA will hold campaign invasions in which students will join
campaigns in key targeted states to assist Democratic candidates for the
weekend. These efforts are in addition to ongoing field programs which have
been successfully targeting youth in 14 states. Going into the last few days of
the campaign season CDA will continue their "Reverse the Raid on Student Aid"
campaign which urges young people to lobby the Republican Congress and speak
out about the $12 billion cuts in student aid and recent Republicans actions to
raise student loan interest rates.

These coordinated activities will build on similar efforts used throughout the
year in which CDA has worked to mobilize young people by championing student
aid issues and holding events across the country.

"College Democrats know that when young people get involved we can help change
things for the better," said College Democrats of America National President
Lauren Wolfe. "This election year will be a referendum on the failed policies
of the Bush Administration which have left college students and young people
out in the cold. We are enthusiastic that we have a comprehensive and fun plan
and that our efforts to mobilize young voters will play a key role in creating
a new direction for America."

The following is a list of activities organized by College Democrats of America
from now until Election Day:

National Youth Canvassing Day: September 16, 2006: Over 4,000 students
canvassed in 21 states urging young people to vote and educating them on how
the Republican Congress has waged war on middle class families who are facing
skyrocketing energy prices, and high college education and health care costs.
Along with students elected officials and candidates participated in events in
their states, including Rep. Harold Ford Jr. and Sen. Christopher Dodd.

Campaign Invasions: October 21-22, 2006: Students will come from nearby states
to volunteer for local campaigns in Pennsylvania, Oregon, Tennessee, Wisconsin
and Colorado.

National Trick-or-Vote GOTV Canvass: October 31, 2006 HALLOWEEN: College
Democrats of America chapters will use Halloween as an opportunity to knock on
doors and canvass local neighborhoods talking about the new direction for
America.

Field Programs: Over 25,000 students are currently active in field programs
that are coordinating with their local state parties in order to actively
engage young people and get out the vote in key campaigns in 14 states.
