Democrats don"t have a Plan
The republicans say that the democrats do not have a paln for Iraq.

What a false choice argument that is...

The fact is that because the democrats do not have a plan is their strength.

Democrats do not have a plan because they believe that the best plan comes through public discourse.

Democrats do not have a plan because they believe that everyone should have an opportunity to comment on laws.

Democrats do not have a “plan” because they listen to their constituants.

plan.

Do you think Bush would for one minute consider implementing it?

It is not encumbant of the Democrats to have some kind of plan for fixing up the giant clusterfuck that is the Bush Adminisration. No such "plan" is even possible.

9. wtf? not sure you understood his/her post
they're saying even if dems came up with a workable plan, dimson would not implement it.

The point is that the cry of "dems don't have a plan" is a political trap.

3. Why Do They Need One
This annoyed me two years ago when I was out canvassing for Kerry.

The idea that sure, Bush screwed up (Iraq), but can Kerry really fix it.

A lot of moderates and independents think we should run our government like it's a business. Well, when you're running a business and you have an employee (elected officials are OUR employees) who screws up you FIRE that employee. You don't keep him (or her) because you don't know if the next guy can fix the mess.

The Republicans have screwed up ROYALLY. They don't deserve to keep their jobs.

5. I heard Wesley Clark discuss this last night
Wesley Clark discussed this very issue last night at a Joe Sestak fundraiser in Delaware County, PA.

He said and I am paraphrasing,

1. The Democrats dion't have a plan for Iraq is a Republican talking point.

2. Our talking point is that we have a process and the process is the combination of diplomacy to resolve the political issues of war and the military for military issues. In the case of Iraq,
our military performed brilliantly in deposing Saddma Hussain and our politicians and diplomasts performed abysmally in resolving the resulting political conflict.

8. Rahm Emanuel says they do, Schumer would rather not
From http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=2855106&mesg_id=2855106

For more than a year, Democrats debated what platform to have for 2006, or whether to have one at all. Mr. Schumer was among those mostly content to bash Mr. Bush. "For us to put out a big range of ideas gives Republicans a target and gets the message off George Bush," he said in an interview as deliberations progressed. But Mr. Emanuel, a former adviser to President Clinton, wanted an agenda.

When Mr. Emanuel appeared last October on NBC's "Meet the Press," host Tim Russert challenged him, "What are the Democratic ideas?" Mr. Emanuel rattled off five -- college aid, health care, a bipartisan budget summit, energy alternatives and a national technology institute. The "New Direction" agenda that Democrats announced last month roughly mirrors those points.

10. Exactly...how do you formulate a plan based on lies and select pieces of
documents that this adminstration and their Congressional allies, who are the majority, give you ? It's impossible ! The truth is Republicans don't want Democrats to have a plan so as there path to self destruction can be fulfilled.

14. Bottom Line....
Are we as dem's willing to debate what we stand for or do we fall inline with a preformulated political position???

Do you believe in debate or not????????????????

situation up so badly that it's impossible to develop a workable plan from the outside looking in.

But it is clear that Bush and his Republican minions don't have a plan and never will. And even worse, they don't have a clue what to do next.

Here's our promise: When we get control, we will work night and day to get America out of this God-awful mess. We will assess the situation realistically and honestly, make tough decisions based on fact and reason, not lies and fantasy, and we'll level with the American people every step of the way.

20. "CHANGE THE COURSE"
"Stay the course" is the stupidest "plan" that is possible....it is a non plan. How could the Dems have a plan on a war that they don't have all of the information on? Isn't that how we got in Iraq to begin with? Bush acted on CIA info that was INCOMPLETE and FLAWED, two of the same words that can be used for what is going on in Iraq now? How can the Dems even begin to know what they are REALLY dealing with UNTIL they get ALL OF THE ACTUAL information about what is really the situation in every aspect of Iraq?

I don't know, it seems like an elementary train of thought regarding a stupid charge that makes no sense.

Have you ever seen a bucket of water thrown at a wall and stick to it? Why is this insane question/charge even being given any real thoughtful consideration? (Maybe to subconsciously make it look like the Dems couldn't handle Iraq any better - that is all that question does) It is a dumb question, but by the fact that they keep asking, they are repeating a charge that the Dems can't handle Iraq and the public keeps hearing that message and having it reinforced.

Maybe the best answer would be..."Change the course"
