Freepers you have a choice, defend your leaders or defend pedophiles
Edited on Sat Sep-30-06 09:46 AM by MN Against Bush
As much as you may wish you could move on from Foley it is not going to happen, this is going to be an issue in the coming elections whether you like it or not. Now you have a choice to make you can either demand the resignation of every GOP member who knew about Foley, or you can defend the party for allowing a pedophile to chair the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children. That is your choice.

You must demand Hastert's resignation, and Boehner's resignation as now he has admitted to knowing as well. If your Speaker of the House knew and your Majority Leader knew but did not do anything, well lets just say your party is going to have a very difficult time running on family values from now on.

I saw your threads on Foley, and many of you have rightly condemned him. That is not good enough though, you must condemn your leadership as well and so far you have been silent on them.

This is not going away until your leadership goes away, we expect you will demand their resignations and if you don't we are going to be asking you constantly whether or not you can defend their inaction.

You have a new issue to deal with this election season, I can not wait to see how you choose to deal with it.

9. WAIT A MINUTE
What Clinton did was legal and consensual adult sex with an adult partner. His "crime" was lying under oath about something that was not in itself a crime!!!!! His judgment about the whole thing was poor, but when you have friends like Linda Tripp, who needs enemies!

Seducing underage boys for homosexual sex messes those poor kids up for life and is a serious violent crime and should be treated as such!!!!

Give me a Grand Jury and an $80 million dollar budget and lets see ANY REPUBLICAN, or anybody in public life, for that matter, come out squeaky clean!

The two situations are not at all analogous!!!!!

17. Yes, they were trying to get him re-elected. They did not even ask
him to resign from the caucus for missing and exploited children. They were condoning his behavior by not only allowing him to continue but by helping him to STAY IN OFFICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

14. If this were a school district Hastert and Boehner would have been fired.
School district employees are MANDATED reporters of abuse, you would expect the same of members of Congress.

15. I just noticed I worded my subject line completely wrong
If they are defending their leaders they are defending pedophiles.

And I can no longer edit my post.

Oops.

in every newspaper in America.

Mind if I borrow your words?

19. You can certainly borrow my words, just proofread them first
Unfortunately I can no longer edit my post, but there are a couple grammatical errors including one extremely glaring one in the subject line which completely changes the meaning of what I intended to say. While I think most people figured out what my point was, I definately wish I could change my wording now.

21. The freeper mind can't deal with complex issues, like thinking.
They will defend the devil himself (insert your own example here) if he said he believed in Christ. To deal with pedophiles you first must admit that society has a problem. But the freepers live in total denial. Even after you prove beyond a doubt they won't yield. Even the Catholic Church refuses to do more than cover up because they would have to admit their priests are human. They just want to close their eyes and pray it will all be better.

23. Freeperville is spinning this in their predictably idiotic way:
Here's a sampling of the different spins:
- Yeah, but what about Ted Kennedy?
- Yea, but what about Bill Clinton
- Oh, they're all pro-gay until it can help them in an election
- Doesn't this prove all gays are pedophiles?
- The Dem opponent knew all along, so he's equally guilty
- Are they sure the IMs were from Foley? Maybe they were planted?

Foley sent some perverted e-mail to a teenage boy and (deservedly)resigned. Meanwhile ted kennedy killed a girl 38 years ago and is still a senator. No double standard here.

Not that I am defending Foley or the Headless House Leaders. If the GOP did oust Foley over last year, the "objective" media would talk about how GOP policies stigmatize gays and drive them to depression.

This is exactly why this case could actually end up biting the 'Rats in the rear end, instead of the Republicans. They keep promoting the gay agenda, but here is one result of that agenda that a lot of parents are NOT going to like. I think a lot of parents are going to look beyond the political aspect (whether R or D) and think about the seduction of their own kids.

I believe it will come back and bite the Dems too...

There is no excuse for what Foley did....

..OR what Bill Clinton did with his intern and a few cigars....

Everything about this stinks to high heaven. Foley is in a solidly Republican district. No chance in hell that he'd lose and instead of having the token opposition or NO opposition this Timothy Mahoney has been surprisingly well funded and aggressive even after months of putting 'no dent what-so-ever' in Foley's lead. Makes you wonder if he has known all along this was going to come out.

We know for a fact by the St. Petersburg Times' own admission that they knew about this very episode in Nov 2005 and didn't bring it public until yesterday.

Here's a question I have after serious thinking. Are the e-mails and the IM both confirmed from Foley? Has someone been augmenting the evidence?

Perhaps this is wishful thinking on my part, because I am just appalled at someone being both so predadory and so STUPID. I just wondered if some of this is not what it seems.

I guess probably so or he wouldn't have resigned, but gosh darn it, I am just dumbfounded at this.
