Foley's name has to stay on the ballot, while votes cast for him will be counted toward his party's new choice.

Here's the relevant statute:

.....If the name of the new nominee is submitted after the certification of results of the preceding primary election, however, the ballots shall not be changed and the former party nominee's name will appear on the ballot. Any ballots cast for the former party nominee will be counted for the person designated by the political party to replace the former party nominee.

11. no, Hitler served in the military and brought jobs to the country...
instead of shipping them out.

4. To be fair, we don't know he's a pedophile, yet
Pedophiles target pre-pubescent kids. So far it's only been verified that he targeted teenagers.

12. True.
Perhaps "letcherous lothario" would have been more accurate.

6. It's a reasonably Republican district with a couple swing and Democratic
counties thrown in. It's possible to win it.

7. In 2004, Republican Mark Foley won by over 2 to 1.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._House_election,_2004

Mark Foley (R) 68%
Jeffrey Jay Fisher (D) 32%

Democrats can't assume we'll win this seat.

9. There is a popular incumbant factor in that.
The number is tighter in an open race. Also Foley did better than Bush in the district from what I read.

13. Foley isn't a pedophile
A pedophile is someone who is sexually attracted to prepubescent children. A 16 year old is an adolescent. Now, a 16 year old in most parts is still under the legal age to have sex so he'd still be in a heap of trouble but not as much as if he were propositioning kindergarteners.

Oh, by the way, he's also an idiot. Good riddance, I say.
