Cuz' if we get BOTH houses he knows we will impeach him and that in a shifted senate the best the R's can do is get some distance. 3. We only need the House for impeachment.

However, the Senate is quite a bit tougher. It requires 2/3 majority to convict on the impeached charges.

Now, consider why Pelosi has been saying that "impeachment is off the table". It could be true that they are just defusing the inevitable Repuke screeching "the Democrats are bad; they only want to impeach our God-ordained President." But if the House impeaches, there is next to no chance that 2/3 of the Senate votes to convict. The Senate Repukes will stop at nothing now, including raping the Constitution. What do you think they'll do against their impeached President? They will all fall at Chimp's feet and acquit.
