Sons of Confederate Veterans turn on Allen.

Doesn't this remind you of Osama bin Laden's endorsement of Senator Kerry because he wanted Bush to win?

The Sons of Confederate Veterans "oppose" Allen because they want him to win, don't you think?

1. No.
They feel betrayed and angry because he denounced the confederate flag.

They aren't as intelligent and complicated as Bin Laden.

2. I beg to differ.
I know people who are members of the "Sons of the Confederacy" or Sons of Confederate Veterans".

The ones I know are not rednecks. One is a developer in Atlanta and is on the Board of Directors of many multi-national companies - mostly based in Atlanta.

And many of them are members of the Democratic party. In my own county there are good Democrats who want to preserve the heritage of the South.

I'm not one of them but I can tell you - I respect these gentlemen.

But, on the DU board it seems to be chic to believe that all Southerners are stupid.

3. Preserve the heritage of the South?
That would be slavery.

The confederates were traitors to the USA.

To belong to the "Sons of the Confederacy" is in essence supporting "what once was", namely ripping Africans away from their homeland and the southern dominance over the African American.

I see no problem with belonging to the "Sons of Confederate Veterans" if it is just an organization where the grandsons/great grandsons meet to discuss where their great grandfathers, etc. served for historical purposes.

4. "Preserve the heritage of the South"
What does that really mean?????

Who is taking their "heritage" away from them?

If you mean that, their losing rebel flag should be saluted by my children in school, then YOUR DAMN RIGHT.... I'm taking away their heritage....

5. I'm really sick and f-ing tired of this "traitor" bullshit
Some of you ought to try to be a little more like Mr. Lincoln, you know, "with malice toward none, with charity toward all ..."

This "traitor" crap is getting real damn old.

But we Dems are such "uniters," of course.

6. Check out this comment:
HP | 9/29/2006, 1:36 pm EST

"I attended high school with Allen in CA back in the late 60’s and he was a racist then, too. Once spraypainted anti-white graffiti on the school walls trying to make it look like the work of black kids from a rival school on the eve of a big basketball playoff game. Allen has been asked about this and owes up to the graffiti but denies it was racist. It was. Someone also ought to ask him how his son came to be named Forrest as in Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest, early leader of the KKK. Allen is a piece of work."
