The legalization of torture is the direct result of gross cowardice
Not by the men and women who voted for it today, but by our fellow citizens.

We are a nation of cowards. The cowards are easily recognizable. They have cars festooned with the New American Swastika.

They wear purple band aids at political rallies. They listen to hate mongering radio for the emotional balm it gives them. They are weak and stupid. being part of the team helps to overcome their deep seated anxiety and self-loathing.

They were cowed into submission by 19 men with box cutters and a will to die for a cause. That submission was noted with glee by those bent on establishing a permanent power base for evil old men determined to dominate the world.

Our cowardly fellow citizens acquiesced at the first hint of a threat. They wanted nothing more than the first person they could call Daddy.

Sad. But Daddy turned out to be an abuser. And like any abused, they became self-loathing and more cowardly.

They truly do not care one whit about the bills that passed today in the House and the Senate. They really don't care. They don't care that they're being spied upon. They don't care that their rights are being eroded. They don't care that killing is being done in their name. They just don't care about anything.

Except their sorry, worthless, cowardly asses.

We can change the government.

Can we change the minds of the sheeple?

We can.

When their fear is greater for their own personal straits than the straits in which the country now finds itself. When they see their children die from lack of health care. When they see their elderly parents die from lack of nourishment. When they see themselves, in ongoing nightmares, eating cat food in their old age. When they see themselves living in a refrigerator packing crate.

The passage of this horrible abandoning of our Constitution is not the end. There will be more.

And more.

And more.

It will change when they no longer trust Daddy to keep them truly safe. When they awaken from the long slumber. When they have nothing.

I pray we're still here for them. I pray we'll be stern with them. Stern .... but caring.

But most of all, on a personal level, I hope I don't so feel hate for them that I will simply push them away.

1. At age 67, I can honestly say that my country has disappeared
Elizabeth Dole (older than me), is my senator but she always votes in lockstep with W. I used to send e-mails...I've given up!
