We need more "Liebermans"
Now, before you go off all pissed, see what I'm talking about.

We love to 'verbify' nouns. "Swiftboating" comes to mind.

I'm suggesting a new verbified noun. Doing a "Lieberman" would involve mounting a concerted campaign to oust a sitting elected offical in the primary.

The case in Connecticut, on its own, is still unsettled. We won't know the outcome until election day. And until Ned Lamont takes a seat in the Senate, it won't mean very much to other Democratic incumbents.

But imagine the horsepower **we** (the real grass roots/net roots) get if Ned goes to Washington.

There's no way we can do this to every pol who pisses us off. But we *can* do it to the more egregious. And not only *can* we do it, we ***should*** do it. Every election cycle. One in the House and one in the Senate.

"Lieberman that bastard!"

It has a nice ring to it, huh?

2. Don't see it.
The case of Lieberman was the perfect storm - combining the right amount of anger and the right amount of Lieberman offenses.

It didn't (and could not have) happened to Hillary. Same for (it appears) Cantwell. In fact, I would bet there isn't a sitting Senator that the netroots could garner support against nearly as effectively as they did Lieberman because the right amount of motive and blue state/red state politics isn't there.

3. Wait til after the election.
If, as currently seems likely, Lieberman holds onto his seat in the Senate, then "Liebermaning someone" would have a rather different set of connotations to the ones you're giving it here.

5. If Joe wins, the gloating will not stop
I am so glad I'll be in Europe then, altho I am prepared for the onslaught.

However, I will not give up or give in. I will continue to phone for Ned on the theory that Dems and undecideds just need more information which I can supply to them.
