That Son Of A Bitch - Rant
In the movie "Quest For Fire," the main character is watching the young cave girl make fire from rubbing a dowel into a small hole. As a wisp of smoke starts to rise, he begins to cry. There are no words spoken in this movie...but the expression on the caveman's face is some of the best acting I've ever seen. An entire wealth of feelings are expressed in his face as he sees fire actually being created. His tears are from a cathartic realization. Instant knowledge of what could have been.

In watching Countdown this evening, I was overcome in the same manner. All I could say to myself as the tears ran down my face was "that son of a bitch." For me, it was the smoking gun, the last straw in a haystack of incompetence. I had the sudden realization that we were right all along. I became outraged that the citizens of this country are not in the streets demanding that this administration be held accountable and brought to justice.

I don't know why it was this evening's Countdown that struck me so deeply. I (as many here) have invested so much of ourselves into the madness of the last six years. I am somewhat at a loss to explain why...it just made me sad for our country. I am torn between my sadness and my anger towards what we have become.

All I could do was hold my head in my hands and whisper..."that son of a bitch."

2. I just had that same epiphany...sort of.
I was sending an email to all on my list with all these links to sources pointing to the incompetence and/criminal actions of our so-called leaders and then suddenly I was overcome with this gut wrenching feeling. I finally just typed out the words, but we already knew all this and yet it is still going forward.

I just don't think a large part of America is really all that concerned about what is going on around them and to them. I know they will one day regret not paying attention, but then it will be way too late.

3. I agree
I'm 64 and this is the sickest thing of my lifetime, and don't forget I remember McCarthy and Nixon.

4. Keith laid it all out very succinctly
It was a moment of clarity. There was no ambiguity about what has happened. I cried, too. :(

5. "I became outraged the citizens of this country are not in the streets"
You and me both. It's absolutely mind boggling that there aren't massive rallies on any give weekend in any given city to protest the most corrupt regime in modern history. Until that happens, I guess we can continue just reeling in the years of more corruption and outrage. I'd like to know where all those wild-eyed organizers of public outrage are hiding.

I totally hear and feel you on this. I logged back in last night just to let it out, I was so overwhelmed.
