Musharraf on Daily Show -- great quotes
Jon Stewart: You to be seem to be at the forefront of the threats, yet you seem much calmer about it than we are.

President Musharraf: Yes I am.

Stewart: If there were an election held in Pakistan today... and we put up two candidates, George W. Bush and Osama Bin-Laden. Be truthful. Who would win a popular vote in Pakistan.

Musharraf: I think they'll both lose miserably.

1. Oooh wee bit of a porkie there, Mushie. Fact is, OBL would win.

The majority of people in Pakistan support OBL. But he sure is right about bush; the very vast majority of people in Pakistan hate that MFer.

"Osama bin Laden, however, is viewed favorably by large percentages in Pakistan (65%), Jordan (55%) and Morocco (45%).

In Pakistan, however, a narrow majority (51%) places some measure of confidence in bin Laden, a slight increase from 45% in 2003.

2. Gawd, it's sad and disturbing...
... when one of our allies is being generously polite by saying our president is as unpopular as the world's most notorious terrorist.

BTW, I'm not familiar with "porkie," but probably neither is OBL. :)

3. One more quote of note
Musharraf: (re: Iraq) Whatever the reasons for going there, I won't get involved in a debate on that, but it has led certainly to more extremism and terrorism around the world.

Stewart: So we're safer?

Musharraf: No we're not, we're not safer.

So much for Bush's statement: "I think it's naïve. I think it's a mistake for people to believe that going on the offense against people that want to do harm against the American people makes us less safe."
