DUers! Need your suggestions for new political books out that I can
give as gifts during the holidays! There are so many I can't remember them all. I have at least 5 family members who usually get a political book by a good liberal!

1. "Conservatives without Conscience" by John W. Dean
The best political book I've read in a long, long time.

Or, this one:
Against All Enemies: Inside America's War on Terror by Richard A. Clarke

You can safely send both of these to anybody without appearing to be partisan as they were both written by Republicans, or at least people who are perceived to be such.

2. I loved "Against All Enemies"!!
but I think my liberal family members have prolly read it. I'll definitely get the Dean book. Ditto Joe Wilson's new book whose title I can't remember. Other than those I'm pretty lost...

3. "Conservatize Me" by John Moe.
Forthcoming in early October, if memory serves correctly.

I'm finishing an advance copy I received from the publisher and it's a hoot.

It's also quite educational about the systematized indoctrination that's led our country so sadly astray.

I highly, highly recommend it.

Please buy from ever-blue Powell's or your local independent!

5. David Sirota, Jonathan Miller
David Sirota's "Hostile Takeover" is very readable and actually offers paths to taking back the country from corporate interests. Sirota is great - smart, witty, and wonky. I find this book to be very much my worldview.

Jonathan Miller (the Treasurer of Kentucky and long-time Democrat) has a brand new book out that I think would be a great holiday gift. It's called The Compassionate Community: Ten Values to Unite America. He uses Old Testament excerpts, interwoven with his personal and political story, to show the importance of Opportunity, Responsibility, Work, Family, Freedom, Faith, Justice, Peace, Respect and Life. Al Gore wrote the forward. It was just released last week but I got an early copy - it's good reading and very optimistic.
