Mark Crispin Tells me not to vote absentee.... Others tell me
not to trust electronic voting....

Oh what will I do...

What will I do....

I guess I'll just stay home and wring my hands...

We are doomed...

Bush will win for sure...

I'm not even gonna donate to a candidate...

What's the use...

No yard signs...

Why bother...

Oh dear, whoa is me...

Choosing one's poison...

If your jurisdiction has electronic voting, vote on election day on opti-scan if available/possible. If that's not available and/or you can't vote on election day, request an absentee ballot. Avoid voting on touch screen if at all possible.

* Don't be fooled -- absentee ballots in many jurisdiction are scanned via machine and those machines are prone to failure and fraud

* Voting before the election via absentee or early voting makes it much more easy to hide the fraud. There's no exit polling. There's no poll watching. Absentee voters aren't in line. It's easy to deny voter turn-out when voting is spread out.

* Join a state or local election reform group to stop this trainwreck.

* Above all -- VOTE!!!

5. poll watching and exit polling has proven to be fruitless.
as you say, choose your poison.

personally I prefer to stay away from the touchscreen, so I vote absentee. they still scan it, and they could deny it or toss it I know.

I have little confidence that, here in Florida and many other places, this next election will be fair or hold a positive outcome for democrats. I think it will be obviously fraudulant and they will get away with it.

Still, I will send in my ballot.

7. I was the ultimate election worker for two cycles...
I was the democratic board member for the board of elections here in Cuyahoga County...

The Absentees are always run first....

Then the counts...

Then the provisional and questionable ballots...

6. absentee is actually a great topic - thanks for raising it
from what i understand it sounds like absentee could be one step up from provisional ballot voting (in that it may or may not get looked at or counted)

i think if youre in a dicey jurisdiction raise some hell about the machines and then vote absentee if your only choice is that or corrupt machines in a corrupt district
but otherwise it seems that unless its "close enough" they may not even count absentee ballots though they may supposed to be

8. No, they are not....
An absentee vote is counted first, at least in Ohio...

What other states do may be different...

Provisional ballots are counted last...

9. well yes that is the way it is supposed to work
but provisional ballots are supposed to be counted if the vote is within x amount - but we have heard many stories esp in ohio and florida where that was definitely not the case

in 2000/florida there were lots of military and foreign national votes that were never counted and thats just one example that we know of
there is tremendous fraud going on all along the counting votes line

again my only opinion is that if one lives in a questionable district (i am not talking entire states) that absentee may not be the golden ticket it is supposed to be

10. Go to Early Voting
at least you have to do it in person, which makes it harder for the Repugs to cheat. Absentee ballots have numerous problems that most people are not aware of. Second, if you have a problem at EV you'll have enough time to resolve before election day.
