Why "they" think there is a Liberal Media
I was just listening to Hardball, from the other room. No faces, no visual cues...Fran Townsend was on, a spokeperson/shill for BushCo. Tweety was actually being tough(TM) and asking Townsend how we are safer, asking her about the NIE. She dutifully answered her questions with the exact same blast-fax points Rove sent out to every other talking head.

I tried to step back and look at this from an outside perspective; they are right (or, correct) in their own minds. Tweety was very, very hard on Townsend...if you are used to being coddled all the time. IOW, the righties think the media is LIBERAL simply because they ask questions. In Conservative World, you listen to your authoratarian leader (without acknowledging he IS one) and react with SHOCK when a pundit doesn't roll over for a belly-rub just like you do.

Sure, they think even CNN or MSNBC is "Liberal," but don't think FOX is "conservative." They're authoritarians. They respect authority and ONLY authority. So it stands to reason that other than fawning adoration, there is absolutely NOTHING that CNN or MSNBC can say that would convince Mr. & Mrs. Bush Supporter that they are unbiased.

Believe me or not, there are some who regard Fox as to the left or part of the "liberal media", but Fox is just hiding it better. I'm not kidding here.

2. One of my buddies, former Rep., thinks O'Reilly is a "straight shooter."
My skiing buddy...he hates Bush, because he's lost Veterans benefits and his factory is cutting back on hours, and he swears he's never voting republican again...but, "love him or hate him, you gotta admit, Bill O'Reilly tells it like it is, he doesn't put up with any bullshit!"

So there you have it. In the authoritarian mind, all you have to be able to do is dismiss the "other side" with certainty. Display your hate and ignorance, wear it on your sleeve...GOOD LITTLE REPUBLICAN!

3. there are a lot of people who won't be happy until media coverage
of Bush, his party and his successors looks like this:

FOX News already reads like Die Stürmer, the rest of corporate media are getting swept along towards that drain at more or less the same rate.
