Lieberman Attacks Lamont's Iraq Plans

By ANDREW MIGA
The Associated Press
Monday, September 25, 2006; 10:43 AM

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Joe Lieberman is expected to attack anti-war
rival Ned Lamont's support for a troop withdrawal timeline in Iraq
as "doomed to fail" and could leave the U.S. more vulnerable to
terrorism.

"The clear choice before Connecticut's voters in this campaign is
Ned Lamont's plan for giving up on Iraq versus my plan for getting
the job done there," Lieberman is expected to say according to
remarks prepared for delivery Monday at a Veterans of Foreign Wars
post in Connecticut.

"The Lamont plan for immediate withdrawal and an arbitrary deadline
is doomed to fail and weaken our security," Lieberman's speech reads.
"It will leave our troops more vulnerable to attack while they remain,
and will leave Iraq to become a failed state and a terrorist breeding
ground when were gone."

Lieberman's speech comes in the wake of reports about a new U.S.
intelligence estimate that concludes the Iraq war has hurt the war
on terror and made the U.S. less safe. Lamont and other Democrats
have seized on the National Intelligence Estimate as proof the Bush
administration and supporters such as Lieberman have blundered
on the war.

Senator Lieberman, Iraq already is a failed state.
BushCo has done its best to make it that way.

3. Lieberman is back to his GOP talking points
This is the stark choice we face: Afghanistan or Iraq!

If we want to salvage Afghanistan, we must take all the troops out of Iraq and move them to Afghanistan.

Iraq is already lost no matter what we do, but for those that want to stay because they want more names on the wall of a future war memorial, they must take all the troops out of Afghanistan, move them to Iraq, and start drafting people to have even more troops in Iraq. At a minimum we need to double the troops in Iraq, just to keep pace with the civil war.

We can no longer fight the war in two countries!
