Who is telling the truth? Bush or the Intelligence people??
Bush was on CNN this morning with a taped interview with Wolf Blitzer. He said there was no civil war going on. If there were, the generals on the ground would tell him. The people of Iraq have the will to create a democracy, he said. He gave the impression that we are winning the war in Iraq and things are going pretty well.

However, this morning, we hear the news of a secret intelligence estimate from April that is just breaking on the news. The Intelligence, passed on to John Negroponte, says that we are creating more terrorists with our occupation of Iraq and that it is worse than before 9/11. Now, John Negroponte was nominated by George W Bush to be the National Intelligence Director, over all intelligence agencies, including the CIA. Is Mr. Negroponte not telling Mr Bush what is happening? Or does Mr Bush know about this NIE and intentionally covering it up with lies like the ones he gave Wolf Blitzer this morning?

5. Are you saying there is someone more intelligent than our President?

"Intelligence people"--sounds like another so-called cultural elite to me.

He doesn't need "intelligence" because he's got wisdom--a whole big BOOK of it!

6. Define your terms.
If you don't define your terms you can go round and round arguing about it, when the real argument is what the agreed-upon definition should be.

I don't call it a civil war yet; religious, interethnic, and intertribal conflict, sure. On a fairly large scale (I don't want to call it horrendous or very large because I want to leave plenty of semantice space for when things get worse).

It's gotten closer to civil war, but one side lacks organization, a government, and territory clearly under its control. Maybe next month.

I'd also really, really like to see how they judge terrorism risk, what metrics they employ.

7. it`s a religious civil war
to see who will rule iraq, the sunni`s or the shiites.

i love their "secret intelligence estimate" bullshit. any one with an internet connection and a functioning brain could go to any website/blogger in iraq and read what is going on.

many of the bloggers i used to post have either stopped posting or have moved to jordan because their lives have been threatened.

here`s one site that has just started up...good site
