Sunday, September 24, 2006

Rep. John Hostettler trails his Democratic challenger, Brad Ellsworth, by 15 percentage points in a new poll commissioned by the Evansville Courier & Press.

The poll of 603 registered voters in Indiana's 8th District shows Ellsworth with 47.4 percent of the vote compared with Hostettler's 31.8 percent. Undecided voters number 16.6 percent, and 4.1 percent refused to answer.

Of those polled, 32.7 percent identified themselves as Republicans and a fractionally higher number, 33.5 percent, identified themselves as Democrats. The remainder were not affiliated with either major party.

1. That's good news
This is my district. Hostettler is a creepy buffoon. I think some of his relatives live down the street. They are very helpful about putting up yard signs supporting all the two-bit GOP candidates in the area, so I know who to vote against.

2. down fifteen points... that is HUGE esp for an incumbent congressman
Hostettler is exceptionally creepy. If we did not have such a group of wackjobs in our congressional delegation - he would get more attention for his wacked-outness. But Danny "shoot the watermelon to prove that Vince Foster was murdered" Burton takes the show - and Steve "nuke em!" Buyer plays along as well - though I think that Hostettler certainly out wacks Buyer.

4. You got that right
Pretty scary stuff when he is the mildest whackjob of the bunch.

Although I wouldn't say that to his cheesy pale face, because I know he is a right-wing paranoid freak who carries a concealed weapon.

5. Ellsworth was here recently and
I had a chance to meet him and listen to him. I am going to make calls for him at his local ofc. On Oct 4 at 8pm EDT there will be a televised debate between him and Hostettler.

6. Too all non-hoosiers - this is one of a trio of races that could tip
control of the House of Representatives. All three are significant - as all three races involve incumbent republicans (Hostettler, Chocola, and Sodrel) - and ALL THREE are trailing. These are not open seats. These are incumbents.

Forget all the WaPo and other pundit speak of the last couple of days claiming that the tide is turning back for the GOP. In these trio of 'canary in the coalmine' races - the leads are big and in at least two (if not all three) the leads are growing.
