3. Lieberman voted for bush in every vote that mattered - he is a DINO
Edited on Fri Sep-22-06 06:37 PM by peacebird
So having him on "our side" was really pretty worthless. He gave tons of "bi-partisan" cover for bush tho.

edit: and last time I checked the voters in his state choose Lamont over him in the primary, no? So being a "good democrat" Liberman conceded to his parties choice - right? :eyes:

No Lieberman chose to run AGAINST THE PEOPLES CANDIDATE OF CHOICE proving yet again what a republican tool he is.

10. It isn't that Lamont is far left
Leiberman is too far right. They moved the middle to the right so anything that is truly mainstream just seems left when it isn't at all.

12. Integrity means nothing
to you? He defected, and is running an in-your-face, f*ck you, campaign.

According to the majority of Democrats that voted for Lamont, he wasn't too far to the left for them.

And since you brought it up, what (in your opinion) is far left about Lamont?

26. "We" blew it? "Picked" a far left candidate?
Lamont was ELECTED by all the people in Connecticut who voted in the Democratic primary. Deal with it.

He's only a far-left candidate in Joe Lieberman's imagination.

22. It most certainly does matter
what you think. Because what you think, you share, and it ripples outward.

It was one thing to support Lieberman during the primary, but that debate is now over. The Democratic voters of CT have chosen Lamont, and that is who you should be standing behind in your conversations.

If you support Lieberman, maybe you should reconsider your party affiliation?

You might want to read this page if you haven't already:

No stand posted on gun control, but I don't think that's a current pre-occupation of many Americans, ya know?

I'm beginning to believe Joe will caucus with the repub if he win and IMHO he has a BETTER than 50% of winning. This whole Ct senate race is a clusterfuck

15. That's a separate issue entirely, as is your earlier point about...
... whether choosing Lamont as the Democratic Party candidate will cost us the Senate or not.

I'm sure there are arguments to be made that support what you're saying, and arguments that refute.

But my point is this: Lieberman showed himself to be a man utterly without character when, without a second's hesitation, he turned against the party that has supported him all these years.

That hurts our chances, as a matter of fact. Hurts progressive causes. Empowers the GOP, particularly now that he's the darling -- and beneficiary -- of their fundraising party circuit.

But most of all it shows him to be a man without a shred of honor about him.

A perfect fit, I suppose, for today's GOP.

That Lieberman, what a liberal warrior! Gosh, I'm sure he would have put himself out there on our behalf had he not had to spend so much time defending his man crush, George W. Bush.

And, um, welcome to DU.

20. Welcome... I see you're new.
:hi: Maybe a quick read of the rules of posting here might help.

You are not supposed to be advocating for any candidate but the Democratic Candidate. If you are here to advocate for Lieberman over Lamont, that's against the rules, as I understand them.

28. you forgot pro-environment
and it would be more accurate to say that Lieberman is "pro-not-giving-large-taxes-decreases-to-the-top-1%-wealthiest". (Also, I don't really know what "pro-welfare" means, except that Lieberman seems to think that he is entitled to a government job as Senator for the rest of his sorry life).

Anyway, I've been one of Lieberman's strongest supporters on DU from the beginning. An archive search would turn up many posts by me pointing out that Lieberman's overall record is solidly democratic.

But... no longer relevant. Lieberman could have been the greatest Democrat ever and it wouldn't make any difference now. Lots of good candidates lose their primaries (giving Joe more credit than he deserves). That's the way politics is and he should have respected it.

P.S. Welcome to DU! :hi:

31. Pro Iraq War!!!!
Listen, that's what this is all about: people are sick of DLC Dems sacrificing the principles of our party. It is not extremist to believe that war should have been the last resort, not the first choice. Or that our soldiers should have more support than just a stupid yellow sticker that cost some wingnut 3 dollars--WTF kinda war effort is THAT from the true believers???

For Holy Joe to go to Iraq and say it's like the fucking Garden of Eden is just totally reprehensible. The CT dem voters did what we all should do, and threw the hypocrite out on his sanctimonous ass.

Bottom line: you're registered as a Dem, you don't act like one of them. Otherwise, buh-bye!
