Saudis pledged oil price cut before US vote-report
Note: Reuters, 04-18-04 and in 11/07/06 we're seeing it happen again.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia's ambassador to the United States, Prince Bandar bin Sultan, promised President Bush the Saudis would cut oil prices before November to ensure the U.S. economy is strong on election day, journalist Bob Woodward said in a television interview Sunday.

In an interview with CBS's "60 Minutes" about his new book "Plan of Attack" on the Bush administration's preparations for the Iraq war, Woodward, a senior editor at the Washington Post, said Prince Bandar pledged the Saudi's would try to fine-tune oil prices to prime the U.S. economy for the election -- a move they understood would favor Bush's re-election.
Simply put, if they did it then why not do it again when power is again at stake in the US.

1. They Don't Even Try To Hide It Anymore
There are enough CULT MEMBERS and complete MORONS in this country, that they can now basically come right out and say...."Yes, we know there are MORONS in the U.S. who will like us more if we lower gas prices for a couple of months, so of course we're going to do it.

2. and he did this because?????
Edited on Fri Sep-22-06 01:58 PM by welshTerrier2
one has to wonder what Bandar was offered by bush to "help out with the US elections" ...

is it just a little possible those prices will rise right after the election?? ... of course, they'll say that was caused by the instability created in the Middle East after the US attacked Iran ... it all fits together so nicely, doesn't it??

some day, instead of having the American people feel so happy that gas prices have finally gone back down, they'll realize that the US is able to manipulate, or at least barter with, foreign governments to control events in the short-term leading up to elections ... it would be nice if the "opposition party" started teaching Americans about exactly how this process works ...

k&r ...

3. It is all so predictable before an election:
Lower gas prices - stock prices up - a tape from Osama -

dig up some dirt or accuse a democrat that is threatening to take out a repub., otherwise known as Swiftboating.

Raise the terror alert to orange especially in an area or areas that could use a boost to a repub. candidate

My guess for the most damage would be the Swiftboating of just a couple of powerful opponents and keep the media busy talking about it for weeks. Surely they won't go so far as to kidnap a young blond college student?!

Look how Allen is getting by with his Macaca speech. He is now getting sympathy, his poor mom having to deal with her ethnicity. Awwwwww

Bottom line, the Democrats need to stiffen their spine, speak truth to power. Won't hold my breath.

12. Down but no dive and down today, but
the Dow is still at about 11,500. It's like a yo yo. same with gas prices, fixed for the occasion, like summer vactions - up, election time, down.

7. saudibusharabia is the only good oil producing country
all the others are evil doers we are told. we mess with Iraq, and Iran to slow the flow of oil. its all to sell more bush family Saudi oil.

16. Except for the teensy weesnsy fact that gas/oil prices didn't go down.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_price_increases_of_2004_and_2005

Certainly something to keep aware of but I find the conflation of statements then with now and in light of what actually happened to be so much tin foil.
