Do-Nothing Senate Adjourns at 9:40am

Before you’d even finished your morning cup of coffee, the United States Senate adjourned for the day. That’s not so unusual; much like college seniors, the Senate rarely schedules work for Fridays. What is unusual—or at least, alarming-- is the amount of work they’re blowing off. We may be in the middle of a war (or two, or three—does Lebanon count?), dealing with soaring deficits, high gas prices and an as of yet to be re-built New Orleans, but when there’s campaigning to do, creating a silly “budget” can surely wait.

So what’s on tap for next week? Let’s go to the tape.

That’s right, the entire GOP National Security agenda comes down to next week. And if you believe the same body that took a week out of their schedule to debate gay marriage and another to debate flag burning can pass all of the above by next Saturday, we’ve got a fabulous bridge in Brooklyn for you to check out.

4. That's sad...
The sheer unadulterated arrogance is just mind-boggling :silly: ...even after 6 years of this crapola.

I'd LOVE to see Keith Olbermann do a piece on this.

3. Will they get to it all? Probably not
But considering how quickly they mobilize on things near and dear to their black little hearts (Schiavo, anyone?), you can bet they're going to try their level best to railroad through the most odious things they can.

And it's hard to imagine anything more important than keeping Shrub's ass out of a sling. Because once those Republican majorities melt away, a whole lot of people are going to have to do a whole lot of explaining.
