Karl Rove: So What.
As predicted, this person slipped out another little "hint" of an October surprise in order to stir political circles.

As usual, a few DU'ers have gotten caught up in trying to speculate what that might be.

As far as I can see, Rove really doesn't have much juice for this election term. Speculating about him only empowers him.

We can go on and on and on about him, but when it comes down to his role in the election, so what?

That won't stop us from what we have to do.

1. To quote Lily Tomlin in "9 to 5":
"Well, OK, but be prepared for anything."

Good advice for Democrats as we head toward the election.

2. ..and it won't stop him from orchestrating yet ANOTHER stolen election...
Doesn't have much juice? You're right, he only has the entire US media in the palms of his chubby little hands, the (in) Justice Department to (not) investigate any vote-tampering issues, and all the pollsters that continue to enble the giggling murderer in the WH.

Yeah, you are right, forget Rove, he's done.... :eyes:

3. He does not have "the media" in his hands.
The media have the market in their hands. The market says: GOP out, Dems in 2006.

The media do not work as a collective.

5. Care to place a wager on that?
The media don't work as a collective? Since when? Or was the multi-channel Clinton-Cock-Hunt a figment of my imagination?

6. Because I used to work in the media...
and believe me, everyone who works in a newsroom is an individual.

You seem a bit high-strung about this, so I suppose nothing I say will dissuade you.

10. I see, so I DID imagine the media, in concert, attempt to destroy the...
...Clinton Presidency...

Newsrooms be damned, that's NOT where the decisions are made, or has Dan Rather been given his old job back?

The BOARDROOMS are where these decisions are made, and as long as massive coporations own the media, they will do what is best for them, and their political bed-fellows...

12. Look... let me give you some advice...
I have 2 degrees (so far) in this. As a liberal I suggest that you stop reading Chomsky. Period. Put his crap down and acknowledge the fact that money means nothing when it comes to political power. So there are large corporations? So what! What matters more is that there are many citizens in this country - why aren't they protesting? Why aren't they speaking up? Where are they?

14. Um, I don't read Chomsky.
Why aren't the citizens protesting? Because they are being spoon-fed nothing but rethuglican talking points by the corporate media, their opinions are being manipulated by pollsters, and denied the truth. That's where they are.

16. You do speak from a Chomsky perspective...
you have adopted this unidirectional propaganda model where somehow, magically, "talking points" can be injected into any citizen, producing the same results.

Have you asked yourself why it is that YOU have escaped this leviathan, while others apparently have not?

We all bring our own experiences to the media we watch, read, and listen to. Those experience color and question the messages we absorb. It is not so simple.

He's only saying this to stir up trouble, he probably has no surprise at all. Let's not get roped in to his tricks, it's what he wants.

8. Why do you fear this non-entity?
Why give him this much power, when much of it has been smoke and mirrors and based on the 2001 terror attacks?

11. I don't have as much faith in the American people as you do...
I speak to some of them all the time. It is true that some are sick of bush, but nothing can or will change their hateful beliefs about us. Rove knows which buttons to push and he has no compunction about pushing them. He truly has no shame and no limits and his goal, as he stated, is a one-party system in this country.

15. He is already well into it. The constant drum beat of "All the Dems
want to talk about is Iraq, sheeeesh", "The Dems don't have a message", and "The Repbs are standing up to the terrorists, the Dems are weak" in the press is coming from somebody.

19. The whole point of a surprise is for it to be just that a surprise...
I don't think he has shit.

I think he's just stirring the pot because regardless of what we think of him (being the piece of shit that he is), he believes, the media believes, the mouth breather believe, and many people on here believe that he is some sort of demi-god and has something up his sleeve.

I frankly, don't believe anything he says and think he's nothing but a low life little shit that didn't get his way in school because he always got picked on.

so his october "surprise" is just that nothing. The announcement is the surprise, it's purposely aimed at the left to get all of our panties into a collective bunch.

If we did more to ignore him, we would be a lot more successful instead of feeding into his line of total bullshit.

His cards have been played and all he has is nothing.

21. I tell you ONE damn thing for sure....
This is our election to lose...I believe we know all the same tricks they do...we KNOW what it might (will) take to assure wins...so IF we don't take the appropriate actions...it's gonna be OWN DAMNED FAULT if we lose...(think about it) IF we are surprised with another stolen election in Nov...then we need our asses kicked for being so stupid...
