2. Nothing new there.
Pakisthan,SaudiArabia and UAE were the only 3 to have relations with the Taliban.

3. I heard a report on NPR about a month ago from a woman who
used to be a reporter, but is now living in Afghanistan and working for NGO (I think). She said it was a universally know fact that the Taliban was funded and supported, right now, by Pakistan. The "man in the street" in Kabul says that the Taliban and the US are allies, because the US funds Pakistan and Pakistan funds the Taliban - so the Taliban is using weapons paid for by US taxpayers.

"Would you mind adjusting that looking-glass, it's hard to step through at this angle."

Because the Pakistan government was one of the few to fund and support the regime.

This is part of the complex formula for why they entered into that agreement not to go into that certain part of the country the one part where many sources say the Bin Laden is hiding.

With friends like that ....
