.... it always does.

From The Guardian (but I also heard it on WTOP (DC's all newz radio station):

Commerce Department Loses 1,137 Laptops

Friday September 22, 2006 3:16 AM

By DOUGLASS K. DANIEL

Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Commerce Department has lost 1,137 laptop computers since 2001, most of them assigned to the Census Bureau, officials said Thursday night.

The Census Bureau, the main collector of information about Americans, lost 672 computers. Of those, 246 contained some personal data, the department said in a statement. However, no personal information from any of the missing computers has been known to have been improperly used, the department said.

The number of people affected by the equipment losses could not be determined, the department said. The review was prompted by congressional and public inquiries.

``All of the equipment that was lost or stolen contained protections to prevent a breach of personal information,'' Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez said in a statement. ``The amount of missing computers is high, but fortunately, the vulnerability for data misuse is low.''

3. I never got a letter
But its possible my discharge was prior to the time frame on the stolen laptop.

Last I knew, all my records existed only on paper, at Bainbridge.

pension. Perhaps that's why?
Whatever it was, the postage must have been atrocious, though perhaps not in the scheme of things. The daily dollar in Iraq would probably cover that.

2. So the Census Bureau and the Commerce Dept can't even keep
track of their own equipment. Great.

5. Again I say - this will turn out to be related to election fraud. These
laptops "lost" with military and all sorts of other information are going to be raked and abused in any way possible to contribute to election fraud. Just one of the many ways which will all add up to another Republican victory.

They can NOT afford to lose and be questioned or tried on anything by a Democratic House or Senate.

6. Election fraud and their very own database of who thinks what.
I think it's a lot worse than election fraud though that's bad enough. Think of all the compiled info in these programs/software/wherever. Copy it, return it, no problem. Except our info is compromised.
