Pelosi on Chavez
Watching television, which is almost completely corporate controlled, I am always told how Pelosi is a "San Francisco liberal" who represents some kind of fringe extreme.

Reuters quotes her as saying:
"Hugo Chavez fancies himself a modern day Simon Bolivar but all he is an everyday thug," said Pelosi, referring to Bolivar, who led the fight for independence against Spanish rule in several South American countries during the early century.

Hugo Chavez abused the privilege that he had, speaking at the United Nations," said Pelosi, adding that Chavez "demeaned himself and he demeaned Venezuela."

Right now it's the evening of September 21st. When I go to http://www.amazon.com/books , I see the 2nd best selling book is the Noam Chomsky book Chavez recommended in his speech. The best selling book contains the same sort of themes the 2nd one does.

So who is outside of the mainstream? Bush is out-of-step with the world, and the people of the US (30% approval) and so forth and we know that. Yet Pelosi, Rangel and so forth are running around up there defending the US elite's imperial imperatives.

1. pelosi and rangel are playing politics-- they are cut from the same cloth
...as dems who stumbled all over themselves to get on record in late 2002 about how the U.S. has to stop Saddam Hussein and his weapons of mass distruction-- never mind that the weapons didn't exist. If there's a bandwagon, those folks will jump on it.

3. I'm joining Hugo's book club. What does Pelosi have to say about Chomsky?
Edited on Thu Sep-21-06 08:21 PM by 1932
I suspect that book has way more critical things to say about American Empire than Hugo said yesterday, but at least Chomsky is a first generation US citizen so that Pelosi won't ream him out.

5. These people don't represent me...
was never under any illusion they did. They are less extreme then the republicans, so I vote for them. That's the only reason.

That's my problem with "the false democracy of elites"...
