In 2004 Kerry said he would investigate Manipulation of Oil for Political
reasons, did not he?

1. It was done
"Wyden questioned the chief executives of Exxon-Mobil, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, BPAmerica and Shell Oil USA today during a joint hearing of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources and the Senate Commerce Committee on energy pricing and profits. Recent reports have shown that the five companies earned more than $25 billion in profits during the most recent quarter."

Wyden and Boxer have been on gas & oil price gouging for a long time. Can't get the evidence.

3. The head CEOs were not under oath - as per Repuke slap on the wrist
and anyway, what proof is needed that there must be no God if a Republican lays his hand on the Bible and swears to tell the Truth? No "zot" of lightning from above ...

5. Much much more than that
I'm not going to spend the next hour going through the last 5 years of hearings and what not that I know Wyden has had to try to get to the bottom of this gas gouging. If you reaaally give a shit - look it up yourself. But you won't, because you purpose is to bash the Democratic Party regardless of what they've done on a particular issue.

4. I don't think this is the same thing
I think this was to look into profits, not political manipulation.

But still.... asking those who are taking campaign contributions from the oil companies to investigate is like leaving the keys to the chicken shack with the fox.

7. It's all the same
How and whether the oil companies manipulate prices and gouge the public - for whatever reasons. Wyden and Boxer have both worked diligently on it and couldn't come up with the evidence. Most folks at DU either know the truth of it or don't really give a shit about anything except bashing Democrats anyway.

2. He was part of overall legislation submitted last April
The problem is that media gave it little coverage and that's why YOU and probably many others don't remember it.

8. Actually, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee has been talking
about this, but since it's controlled by Republicans who don't want any of this to get out, the hearings have gotten no publicity.

Go to the SFRC site: http://www.senate.gov/~foreign/hearing.html

Check out the March 30th Hearing, "The Hidden Costs of Oil." (There are about 3 other hearings that deal with the same general subject, btw. And this is 'on the record' stuff.)

Just read the first postion paper

Dear Lord, this is what is being said with the Repubs in power, can you even imagine what the rest of the story that is too much to admit to in a public hearing is?

The information is out there. It is being discussed in Congress, but people want it spoon-fed to them in tiny little bites that are meaningless.
