What an inspiring post about Oklahoma Democrats. Great picture.
50 State Strategy Oklahoma

"The Oklahoma Democratic Party is doing an amazing job motivating Democrats in America's heartland. Chair Lisa Prior has embraced the 50-State Strategy and the results are tangible."

From the Oklahoma Gazette

“I’m not a member of any organized political party, I’m a Democrat!” —Will Rogers

The Oklahoma Democratic Party has decided to make Will Rogers into a liar. All indications are that, for the first time ever, a viable and organized Democratic Party is present in the Sooner State. And it is the presence of organization combined with dedication among the activist base and a stiff political wind blowing against the right that has Democrats thinking heady thought toward November.

The Democrats are finally emerging from a long, dark tea time of the soul that has seen their registration and identification advantages among voters collapse, culminating in the loss of majority in one legislative chamber, control of a single congressional seat and a minority party governor who had the good fortune to run against a pious star athlete and an attorney gifted in the art of political destruction. When Republican candidates ran up 60 percent-plus totals statewide and a huge party debt, political observers two years ago wondered if the party’s prospects would ever rebound or if they’d just follow the socialists into Sooner politics oblivion.

They are really using the Party Builder as well. Some of us are getting ready to organize our DFA group on there. Here is the link to their events for next turnout day.

Oklahoma Party Builder events

If Oklahoma can do this, I know Florida can. Our state party hasn't even mentioned these events for October 7. Our DFA and Local DEC worked together to have the last event.

Good for Oklahoma.

1. Democrats, come rain, come shine...an OK labor day picnic.
Their enthusiasm is dwarfing what I see in Central Florida. I don't know about the rest of our state.

This sounds impressive.

Democrats come rain, come shine

"More than 250 Cleveland County Democrats gathered for food, music, fellowship and speech by Oklahoma City minister

By Melissa A. Wabnitz

Transcript Staff Writer

The raindrops threatening to short out his equipment didn't stop the sweet notes of a Woody Guthrie tune from easing their way out of Steve Swim's guitar, nor did the weather spoil a tradition for the yellow-dog, stonewall and straight-up Democrats who gathered Monday evening at Reaves Park for the annual Cleveland County Democratic Party Labor Day picnic. Huddling underneath the park's new pavilion, more than 250 folks listened to impassioned stumping for the Democratic Party by Robin Meyers, a minister of Mayflower Congregational Church of Oklahoma City, who read a section of his latest book, "Why the Christian Right is Wrong."

Quoting from his book, Meyers called his fellow Democrats to "take back the country and the church."

"I'm old enough to remember when Democrats were Democrats," he said. They stood solidly behind working people and protected the weak form the ravages of the strong."

Democrats of old times, Meyers said, "were blue-collar, mainstream, and deeply religious."

Listing a battery of character traits of yesteryear's democrats, including a strong commitment to defending farmers, working people and United States from enemies, Meyers said not so long ago, these Democrats "owned the deep south."
