Wedges ..... or just good old fashioned Wedgies?
Maybe they're using one to give us the other.

This whole flap over the UN speeches of Amedinejad and Chavez is splitting the left apart, and the right is drving the wedge deeper and deeper.

It doesn't matter what side you take in all of this. The wedge is becoming a real wedgie.

If you support the rhetoric of these two, you're being cut from the herd and held out as anti American. If you comdemn the rhetoric of these two, you're being cut from the herd and held out as anti Democratic Party.

On so many issues, the right uses this very same tactic. It doesn't even matter if your view is more nuanced than it is black and white. You may find what either of them said to be appropriate for some reason or another. That does NOT translate into some sort of larger support. But it sure is easy to paint it that way. The direct opposite is also true.

In the overall scheme of things, none of this would matter much.

In the run up to the midterms, this matters a LOT.

And here we are ... damned if we do and damned if we don't.

1. And the rational "Independents"
move out in front and whaddyaknow - they've got a campaign for them too!

I swear if tweety says "mavericks" one more time I'm going to blow up my teevee.

2. Why support or condemn it?
Any elected and/or campaigning Dem can simply say, "I disagree with Chavez." No further comment needed.

This will have no bearing on the mid-terms. How many people who didn't intend to vote will be motivated to go to the polls because of this? As they said in Spinal Tap, "None more."

The whole thing is meaningless. And ain't no-one gonna remember this in October, never mind November.

3. You're absolutely right ...... te problem is what people on OUR side
are doing.

They're playing the game just they way the other side wants us to play the game.

All the arm flapping has been on our side. The other side is just sitting back and watching and commenting on **we're** doing.
