I could never hold elected office
I'm way too outspoken and unable to make nice-nice. This current election season has shown me what I've long suspected. I can NOT abide the bullshit that passes for politics these days.

If I were in the House, I'd be on the nightly news, being shown in a brawl with some right wing asshole, with fists flying and people being restrained.

If I were in the Senate, they'd haul my ass out of the cloak room for being too uncollegial and my supply of Senate Bean Soup would be poisoned by some right winger who'd grow to not just dislike me, but to hate me.

If I were a state governor, the loacl right wing rag would be printing daily screeds against me as I stood on the statehouse steps and called that same rag a Nazi propaganda organ and that their papers weren't fit to wrap fish guts.

If I were a big city mayor, the local right wing hate mongers on the radio would be the target of my ongoing ire and they'd fry my ass daily.

If I were a lowly school board member, ever religiously insane church in the district would hold paryer sessions to have my ass hauled out of town on a rail because I'd be loudly, arm-flappingly turning back every bullshit proposal they ever made.

The motherfuckers trying to maintain their deathgrip on my country, on my way of life, on everything that affects me and mine are worth nothing to me. NOTHING.

All I find myself doing ..... all too often in this season of campaign crap which is even *more* over the top, is rant and rage.

1. I'm atheist. Won't see me in elected office in the U.S. any time soon.

2. You could perhaps
hold elected office as a State House or Senate member.

I actually ran for the Kansas state house two years ago. And lost, alas, but not unexpectedly. I'm not sure I'd have been a good representative, since I don't always make nice with others. And that ability, quite frankly, seems to be the main requirement of holding most elective offices.
