Radio ad aimed at Maryland blacks links MLK and GOP, Dems and KKK
Black GOP Groups Woo Mfume, Blast Democrats to Back Steele
By Matthew Mosk
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, September 21, 2006; Page B01

Black Republican groups emerged from the political margins yesterday, launching a campaign to persuade African American voters to support Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele's bid for the U.S. Senate.

Their efforts surfaced in a letter urging former NAACP president Kweisi Mfume, who finished second in the Democratic primary, to cross party lines and back Steele against Democrat Benjamin L. Cardin, the 10-term congressman from Baltimore.

The push was evident in a Baltimore radio advertisement targeting African American listeners that was sponsored by the Washington-based National Black Republican Association. The ad identifies Martin Luther King Jr. as a Republican and pins the founding of the Ku Klux Klan on Democrats.

One woman says: "Democrats passed those black codes and Jim Crow laws. Democrats started the Ku Klux Klan."

"The Klan?" her friend replies. "White hoods and sheets?"...

1. The modern parties are quite the opposite. Those "laws" were...
passed by Southern "Democrats", such as Zell Miller, Lester Maddox, and Dick Russell.
They all left the Democratic party and joined the GOP: i.e Trent Lott.

Seriously...the amount of mileage they get by twisting that one simple fact....disgusting...
I don't understand how this lie keeps propagating...:eyes:

Anyway the twisting of History apart, please look at today's GOP/Democratic party and use common-sense to see who is closer to the KKK-the party of Mr.Macaca or that of Barbara Boxer, John Conyers etc.

9. Yes, we have mistakes in our past
We are not perfect. I for one am deeply sorry for the mistakes of our fore-fathers and mothers. I think that is why it is so important to me that we work to provide a solid pathway out of poverty.

Peace, Love, and Respect must be what we champion. It is the best way to fight the fear that currently enslaves millions in ignorance and allows them to be bullied into fights that were not of their choosing.

So why do 90% of black voters vote Democratic, if that party is racist?

If they don't know why blacks overwhelmingly vote Democratic remind them
Which president passed the civil rights act-- LBJ
Which president supported apartheid in South Africa-- Reagan
Which party opposes affirmative action-- Repukes
Which president passed the voting rights act-- JFK
Which party doesn't have a black congressman-- Repukes
Who appointed the first black to the supreme court?-- LBJ
Who later became president because he helped get MLK released from jail (he was arrested at a civil rights demonstration) and blacks turned out to vote for him because of that?--JFK
