AP: Obama Urges Challenge to Bush Policy
Obama Urges Challenge to Bush Policy

By WILL LESTER, Associated Press Writer

Wednesday, September 20, 2006

(09-20) 14:42 PDT WASHINGTON, (AP) --

Democratic Sen. Barack Obama on Wednesday called the view that President
Bush has been perfect in fighting terrorism an illusion and urged Democrats
to challenge the Bush administration's policies.

Obama, mentioned as a possible 2008 presidential candidate, said the nation
is involved in "a war in Iraq that has vastly expanded the number of terrorist
recruits, a deteriorating situation in Afghanistan and Osama bin Laden has not
been caught. We should not shy away from that debate."

Democrats have opposed Bush administration anti-terrorist measures such as the
warrantless wiretapping program and proposals to allow aggressive interrogation
of prisoners.

Obama questioned why the terrorism debate should become more intense around
elections.

3. I have been paying close attention to Obama since his visit to Kenya
IMHO he is too "green" to be President, but considering the moron and dangerous criminal we have in the White House today, even a rookie like Obama would be a great improvement.

Obama's trip to the land of his ancestors, and his meeting with his grandmother, was the sort of extraordinary stuff one only sees in classic Hollywood films. I got goosebumps!
