AP: Texas Candidate Accused of Racist Crack (Kinky Friedman)
Texas Candidate Accused of Racist Crack

By KELLEY SHANNON
The Associated Press
Wednesday, September 20, 2006; 1:08 PM

AUSTIN, Texas -- Gubernatorial candidate and professional wiseacre
Kinky Friedman was accused Wednesday of making another racially offensive
remark _ this time in a year-old interview in which he said sexual predators
should be thrown in prison and forced to "listen to a Negro talking to himself."

The independent candidate already was under fire for referring to Hurricane
Katrina evacuees in Texas as "crackheads and thugs." That remark was taken
as a slap at black victims of the storm.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram and the Houston Chronicle have reported on an
interview with Friedman that aired on CNBC last year in which the country
singer and comedian was asked what to do with sexual predators.

-snip-

State Rep. Garnet Coleman, former chairman of the Texas Legislative Black Caucus,
said the remarks are unacceptable from a candidate for governor, and sound more
like something uttered by someone running for "class clown or the grand wizard
of the Ku Klux Klan."

3. The reincarnation of Clayton Williams
woulda thunk it would appear as a Jewish Cowboy singer-songwriter?

Idiot - I recently sent his books to Goodwill. I'd rather have just appreciated his writing - not have known what a moran he is.

4. "listen to a Negro talking to himself."
So what the hell does that mean? Why does it have to be a "negro"?

10. This has actually been old news around these parts for a while, but
I am glad it is getting more coverage again. I hope everytime he says something stoopid, someone out there will decide their support has been misplaced.

11. Imus In the Morning
is really endorsing this guy. I believe, (but I'm not 100% certain) he said that old Kinky's platform is also promoting prayer in school. Haven't gone to his website to confirm and doubt that I will either.
Imus is all over the place in the political spectrum. Loves Ford from Tennessee but also Santorum in PA.
He voted for Kerry, hates the Iraq invasion but Matalin is his good friend...go figure.
What a nut case.

13. Friedman hasn't learned.
He makes a racist slur on Tucker Carlson's show just last night.

Face it, he may want pot legalized, but otherwise?
He's a fundy racist piece of shit.

Carlson failed to challenge Friedman's false claim that Katrina evacuees were responsible for "20 percent" of homicides in Houston last year

Summary: On Tucker, independent Texas gubernatorial candidate Richard "Kinky" Friedman falsely claimed that "the evacuees have been responsible for 20 percent of the homicides in Houston last year." Tucker Carlson did not challenge Friedman, instead saying, "That is shocking. That's upsetting -- and good for you for having the brass to talk about it in public. You're winning me over, by the way."

15. That's what I thought too, David Zephyr
Now with more media coverage on this clown's positions, he's more apt to attract that element in the republican party and take more votes from Perry. Keep shooting your mouth off stinky kinky.
