8. Without naming the U.S. ...
He talked about america as "the occupier" when talking about Iraq. And regarding Israel, he talked about it in terms of Lebanon and how the U.N sat could do nothing because of our power. These are paraphrases. But he definitely said what so many DUers have been saying for years.

"Wow"...are easily interpreted.

I am much less impressed by a Jew-hating, Holocaust-denying megalomaniac. I've had to deal with enough of them here in the US, I don't need them from somewhere else.

47. Ahmadinejad has also said he respects the Pope

Tehran: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who is on a visit to Venezuela on Monday expressed respect for Pope Benedict XVI, saying that the pontiff had "modified" his remarks that offended Muslims worldwide.

"We respect the pope and all those interested in peace and justice," Ahmadinejad told a news conference before departing Venezuela...

At the end of a two-day visit to Venezuela, Ahmadinejad also said there was a contradiction between the Christian values of Western nations and the wars those countries have waged.

"All the wars of the 20th century have been caused by European countries and the United States," he said.

"A part of the American government say they are Christians, but they are not Christians, because Christ like all the prophets of God was a prophet of justice and peace for humanity," he said.

Most Iranians do not wear a turban, only those who are the equivalent of priests or who are extremely devout. The only secular people in Iran who really wear "traditional" dress are members of the nomadic tribes. Fashionable western (=European) clothing has been popular for some time.

63. And with good reason, IMHO.
If Bush* has issues with him, and they are legitimate, he owes it to the American people and to the world community to have a dialog with him. It's just crazy that he refuses. But he's done the same thing with North Korea, which Clinton and Madeline Albright worked so hard to establish a dialog with, since they are our greatest threat. Bush*'s U.N. speech was better than most he's made, but he's totally dropped the ball by not meeting with the president of Iran when he had the chance, and discussing his questions about a nuclear threat. Bush* obviously has issues with Iran, if he refuses to even talk with them, much to our detriment... The media liked Bush*'s speech, as did Bill Richardson, but this means nothing until he engages in dialog with Iran and North Korea...:-(
